Sorry if this has been asked before, but I wondered about this supplement. It appears to be a natural product that could help with such things as constipation, possible weight loss, and glucose issues.

I don't have any glucose issues, but do have the other two

Has anyone used this, and if so, what do you think?

I have used both the cake and noodle type (available most reliably in Japanese groceries under the name "shirataki" noodles or "shirataki cake"), but I also use the powder--which is much more difficult to find, and REALLY REALLY WEIRD STUFF!!!!

It's a super dose of fiber, and WILL help with constipation in a very gentle way without resulting in explosive diaharrea

It also makes me feel very full for a long time--- which is its main weight loss advantage.

Regarding glucose levels, I know it's been recommended for diabetics because I found my internet supplier on a help site for diabetics [my mother is diabetic]. My husband--who is not diabetic but is a "tall drink of water" who has always had glucose issues because of is VERY fast metabolism LOVES the stuff because it has really leveled out his mid-morning sugar spikes

I'm still experimenting with the powder-- most successful in making a smoothie sort of thing with water, frozen fruit and a tbsp or so w, which instantly seizes into a gelatinous ooze. Not necessarily always inviting! I also have texture issues with the noodles. . .which are OK, but they sort of have the mouth feel of rubber bands.

My favorite form is the cake type, which I pulverize with a stick blender until it's about the size of tiny cous cous. A resealable container of that stays in the fridge and both me and the hubby add about a tbsp to scrambled eggs or oatmeal for breakfast (it's totally undetectable in those preparations) or a tbsp or so to a serving of soup or stew at serving [not during cooking.]

I've found that one tbsp a day of the pulverized cake is all I need for fabulous regularity and satisfying fullness.

    Thanks for that info..

I've seen it online in a "pill" form - a capsule you take before meals and such.

Just wondered about it's effectiveness, or any possibly BAD stuff!

    Will check a little more.

I understand that there is choking hazard with the capsules l--and havi8ng played some with the powder, I can see why. This stuff absorbs and ENORMOUS amount of water VERY quickly (1 tsp can turn 24 ox of water into the consistency of over-set pudding in 30 seconds!).

I have read that the capsules have been know to begin dissolving on their way down, and if that happens, I can definitely understand how someone could choke.

The pills are also crazy expensive-- the cake type from the Japanese grocery is like $1.15 per cake, and one of those will last me a good 2 weeks.
