Timex HRM woes

I bought this HRM (Model 585) a couple of years ago and used it for a while, but never learned how to calculate calories burned, just monitored my heart rate to make sure I didn't stroke out! Now I'm in much better shape and I'd like to use this thing again to help calculate my calories more accurately. Any help out there?!? I've looked on the Internet but can'y really find anything that would assist me. Thanks!
