Even on the probably 5th reading, I'm still enchanted by the Harry Potter books. They're one of the few that don't lose anything for me the more I read them.

Other books... They're by no mean "clean," and sometimes downright filthy in a wonderful, wonderful way, and sometimes horrifyingly brutal, but I got totally engrossed by the Outlander series. Also enjoyed the True Blood/Sookie Stackhouse/Southern Vampire series. Neither are rated PG-13.

Playing Civ IV stops me doing anything at all tbh. It's like 3 hours later, and i remember i should have had dinner....

Civilization IV, and yes, video games totally distract me from food. Interestingly (and ironically) enough, baking also distracts me from eating...

Funny, I've never thought about it this way! I read a lot, but not specifically to supress my appetite, but the truth is, the better I do at keeping myself busy, the less I am thinking about (& eating) food. So perhaps everything. Rigth now I'm reading another of David Sedaris' books, this "Me Talk Pretty One Day," and it's SO effing hilarious, I don't even stop laughing to stick a cookie in my mouth, so it is effectively an appetite suppressant. :)

For disclosure after the previous post, I am above 30, but I was below 30 when I read the Twilight books, for what it is worth. LOL
I just read a lot, and compare it to much better books, in a nutshell. Twilight just can't stand up to that.
Though the story itself was interesting in the fact that the author did make me want to know what happened next, it was poorly written and the characters were terrible. TERRIBLE. But, I am 32, so think of it what you will. LOL I did love some other books designed for younger folks/teens (like The Giver trilogy, The Hunger Games, or if you love the Vampire/occult genre, LJ Smith knocks Stephanie Meyer's socks off, and of course Harry Potter).

I don't know about the books, but watching the Twilight movies made me nauseous and I avoided food for awhile, does that count?

Yeah, playing CoD does the same! I notice I don't snack. Guess because my hands are busy.

OMG baking suppresses too!! i'm glad and shocked you agree... haha you guys i know most of you hate twilight. I didn't mean twilight itself. I get sometimes it can be lame but 1) i'm 18 2) i dont have experience with other books yet and 3) i meant the concept of reading something romantic also occupying your hands...

thanks for the replies i'm glad people kind of relate since it's weird haha
