Taking measurements

I tried taking measurements in the past and never thought I did them accurately. So I started going to a PT just to get measured. Well she upset me today and I wish to measure myself now. Is there a chart somewhere that you can recommend to me so I can measure the correct areas? Here's one I found but not sure if its correct for health or just clothing. Maybe that's the same thing..idk. I also want to measure my body fat w/ calipers which was so hard for me to talk her into doing for some reason. But anyway I have a chart to go by that came with my claipers. Anyone ever do that themselves before?

That website looks like a good guide to follow. I am sure there is a right or wrong way to do it. But that isn't important really, Just do it the same way for YOU every time. I also measure my forearms, biceps, thigh and calf. Who knew I lost an inch off of my forearms???0

Thankyou...think I needed to hear that its where I measure the same everytime that counts. The PT I went to made me think it was imppossible to do by yourself.0 -
Its easy to do on your own. I measure my waist, belly, hips/toosh, upper thigh (largest area), mid thigh, calf, amd mid upper arm every few weeks. Measuring helped my sanity when the scale didnt move (I was losing inches) and now I continue to measure since I have started a new training routine to tone and tighten.
Shame on the PT, shes supposed to educate people?! :ohwell:0 -

It is a bit impossible to measure your body fat with the calipers yourself especially if you are a woman. One of the required points is the triceps and you can't pinch your triceps with one hand and use the caliper with the other. You can also choose to measure only at the belly but that one has to be a very specific place and you have to measure at the same place every time which is difficult to remember. There are youtube videos on how to use a body fat calipers.0

Tattoo lines where you want to measure ;~)
Pick a marker: bone prominence, skin (freckle? other marks), belly button, point between say the elbow and the shoulder joint. Write down your marker so it is the same every time. It is good to use both measurements and scale.0
