USA travel ideas?

My husband and I are planning a trip to the USA in June 2012.
We already have plans to stay in Williamsburg, VA for a week then to go to Washington & Philadelphia for a few days on our way to spend 3 days in NYC.
We need a good place to visit and spend the night in between Philadelphia and NYC, preferably not too'City' like.

Anybody got any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

    chicago?

chicago is way, way, way out of the way. like 10 hour drive.

philly and nyc are so close i would just spend an extra day in nyc. so much to do there. shows, restaurants, sight seeing, museums, sporting events.....

Go to TripAdvisor.com and see what they have to say. You can find reviews on restaurants, hotels, places to visit. I found it really helpful when traveling outside the US to see what to expect and what to do. I saw a cool place on there in the Virginia area that was a redone train caboose! :flowerforyou:
