this is going to sound weird, but please bear with me!
i have had some odd digestion problems as of late. started after my honeymoon in Mexico in September, got better for a few weeks, and are now back (almost a week now). my doctors can't figure out what's wrong (although they are kinda sucky in the running tests department). they have given me diagnoses such as "e. coli infection" and "gastritis". i can believe the first one (i was in Mexico after all!) and the second seems to be a "we don't have any idea of what's going on, so we're gonna give you this".
i have a referral to a GI doc and an endocrinologist but those appts. aren't til December.
because eating gives me such discomfort and things honestly just don't seem to...digest, would it be harmful to switch to a smoothie type "diet" until i get in to see the doctor? i have tried eating bland foods, and that didn't help (plus, there's only so many bananas and so much applesauce one can eat). i ignored the doctor's orders and ate normally and i feel exactly the same as when i eat bland foods.
i would essentially just want to try blending things into a more liquidy form so my tummy has to do less work to digest chunks of food. my friend did this when she had jaw surgery (although i won't be making a Taco Bell smoothie like she did...ew). or, making things such as green smoothies including spinach, kale, etc. so i can get nutrients.
any suggestions? good idea, bad idea? my weight loss is stalling due to the fact that after i eat i sorta just can't move for feel of puking for hours, and this does NOT make me want to work out.
i plan on asking my PCP but i don't even get to see him til 11/19.

I don't know how much it will help, but you can certainly try it. Lots of people drink protein shakes and smoothies to get nutrients. You might also look into avena, which is like an oatmeal smoothie and super good (Gina and SkinnyTaste has a great recipe). Maybe get some protein powder and give it a shot?0

I drink lots of smoothies...even to my fruit smoothies i add kale or cabbage or spinach. i also add almonds to the blender too. i juice a lot as well. you can juice about any veggie...i like carrots, cabbage, an apple, asparagus, broccoli...tastes pretty good too! as far as the GI problems i don't know if it helps...but liquid takes less energy for the body to digest than solids.0

I know this may sound bad, but use a magic bullet and make "baby food" for yourself. I know it's not like eating the textures you are used to, but you will still get the nutrients from the foods you make. And for protiens, the whey powder can sometimes be used in foods, so if you get a non-flavored kind you can blend it right in.
Smoothies work too. I know of some people that will make them and put a 1/2 C spinach in them for nutrients (you can't even taste it)
I would experiment a little here and there with foods you normally make and go from there.0 -
Well ensure and baby food are high in calories, but what about sugar free carnation instant breakfast mixed with a protein powedr. Personally I find it easier to drink(I have major GI problems) Have they checked you for celiac? Are you taking lacabacillius at all(pro biotics) These are some things that help me. I do the ensure but I need the weight gain. You can make your own smoothies and what about things like soups..although beware of water weight from sodium...hope you get better.0
