Does HRM send signals to the cardio machine at gym?

I started taking my Heart rate monitor to the gym and am wondering if it might somehow send my heart rate signal to whatever piece of cardio equipment I might be on at the time. Does anyone know?

Most of them, if capable, will connect automatically. Wear it...hop on and if it registers...the answer is yes.

    I think so...

mine matches the ones at the gym without it even taking my HR.

Most gym machines are "Polar compatible." I have a Sigma Shape HRM and it will signal to the machines at the gym, but my husband's Timex doesn't.

mine does with the machines at our gym and if someone else is wearing one close to me then it can screw with it.

I have a Polar Ft7 and it does indeed sync with most of the machines at my gym.

Yes, most machines today do link with most HRM's today.

Mine syncs with the machines as well. But I find the machines can't keep up with it sometimes. My watch will say 170, but the treadmill will only be registering 150 or so. So accuracy may be an issue.

Plus I feel the machines at the gym are inaccurate when it comes to calories burned, so I just stick with what my watch says.

Yes, we do have trouble with this at my gym in the spin class -- the bikes are too close together, so if someone is near you, what reads on the bike may or may not be your true HR!

What does this mean? When you guys say the HR monitor "syncs" with the machine... What exactly does it do? I just bought a polar FT7 yesterday... I used it at the gym yesterday too but I don't know what you are talking about. lol Help a newbie out.... Please :)

    Hey hun,
what we mean is that when you use a machine the same heart rate will come up on the machine that is displayed on your watch. Hope this helps :) xo

The last 2 times Iv'e been on the recumbent bike, my heart rate reads basically the same on my Polar watch as well as the actual machine. It might be a beat off every so often but they're both virtually giving me the same reading throughout the workout. This made me wonder if my HRM (Polar FT7) was sending my heart rate information to the bike I was riding.

So... I am still confused. Cuz if you hold the sensors on the machine, it finds your heart rate... and the heart rate monitor finds your heart rate....So they shoud be the same right? What makes you think they sync together?I am sorry for the dumb questions, I am just confused.

The strap that you're wearing sends a signal out to your watch. I suppose it sends the signal out farther than your arm and into the machine, which in turn is totally taken over by your Polar FT7 heart rate monitor and almost becomes hypnotized or possessed to only read your Polar FT7 signal. If I didnt take the HRM with me and wear it, the machine would not get possessed or hypnotized, and give me a completely different reading and probably a far LESS ACCURATE reading.

After reading some of the responses here, I say that it probably will.
