I joined 4 weeks ago and I'm finding that really understanding and seeing where I am calorie-wise makes it more of a knowledge based decision to not nosh at night. I write it down and clearly see that I have no calories left if I want to get rid of more of the extra pounds. If I want to eat a bit more, and it would have to be a very little bit, I can still eat it and can maintain where I am. If I want to throw my new calorie awareness to the wind, and just eat whatever, I'd be telling my body, in its language, that I want to gain weight. The ease with which I can keep track of calories on this site makes counting calories doable for me.

What has helped me also is wearing a small activity monitor. I can see the calories I burn each day. I compare that to the calories I record on MFP. The combination of seeing calories in vs calories out makes it really easy to see what you have to do to lose weight. It's much clearer to me now why I put on weight in the past.

Yes, totally clear now. I generally eat a balanced, healthy diet . . . until my children are down for the night . . . It was the extras, way too often, that I was enjoying in the evenings. It doesn't take much to add 300 calories in dessert items. That's cool that you have a device for measuring how many calories you burn each day.
