Hi I'm 41 yrs old and I just joined, I am desperate. I am 213 pounds and I am overweight and unhealthy. I have prediabties and high cholestral with extremely high tryglcerides, at one point my cholestral was 543 and tryglcerides were almost 5,000, and no that is not a misprint. I am on medication to try to get it under control. I have to get my weight under control. Last night I went to my nieces wedding and I just wanted to hide under the table because of how I look and feel. Geesh the other day my son said that I looked like a grandma trying to get back up off of the floor. I need help and I need to know where to begin. I don't know how to eat, cook, shop, and plan healthy meals and I really don't know where to start. I really can't afford expensive food either. So does anyone have advice for me of where to begin?

welcome aboard...I have only joined recently as well. my first thought would be to give your cupboards a complete clean out....get rid of anything processed and fill the fridge and cupboards with fresh fruit and vegies and lots of lean chicken (always my favourite) if you like lots of flavour use plenty of spices. drink plenty of water and if the only exercise you can manage is to walk....then go for short walks around your neighborhood to get you started....a walk to the letterbox is a good start (I am not trying to be mean just to let you know that you can start small and work your way up)
the first step is the hardest and you have already made that by wanting to change!
you can add me as a friend if you want to and all of the other lovely people on the site will be happy to cheer you on.
when you fill in your diaries be sure to be honest with yourself first.
good luck and I hope we can help you0 -

You can do this. I did.
I have not been to anyone in the fitness industry apart from my Doctor (who told me to lose weight), a sports shoe store and a foot specialist when I came into trouble walking.
It is not about stopping as it is Swapping...
