I have been quite unhappy with my weight since I started the birth control pill. I went on it for female reasons (anyone who can identify?) and it has helped regulate those kinds of problems...but now I've got this pesky ten pounds i can't seem to get rid of. My usual weight is 135 or so and now I'm stuck at 145.

I'm trying to trim down that 10 lbs before my wedding...and keep it off...but despite a healthy diet and frequent exercise, nothing is happening.

Any other future brides out there? I've got 9 months to my wedding and I need some diet buddies. I'm also fairly new here-let me just say this is a much better food/exercise journal website than others I've tried.

    Hi,

I've been engaged for 3 years now. Not too sure when the wedding will be yet. I'm definitely not happy with my current weight. Although, I have lost 40 pounds since joining mfp in January last year. I have been placed on birth control in the past for female issues. I later found out that I have a condition called Polycystic Ovaries (PCOS). That condition, makes it that I have irregular periods, due to the fact that my body doesn't ovulate. Other side effect is the weight gain! So, yeah for me! But, I am now aware and fighting against this, so that I can be a healthier and happier me... not to mention look good on my wedding day... whenever I'll be ready to start planning...
  • I'm getting married in September 2012 and I'm trying to slim down for my big day! I think it's great to unite with other ladies in the same situation. I've had a few unsuccessful attempts at losing weight over the past few years, or succeeded and then messed up. I'm seeing this as my opportunity to really make the changes to my figure and health and fitness that I really want to make. Good luck! x

WOW! You've made great progress so far, despite your health challenges! Good for you! Any good advice for me?

Are you on any kind of wedding website? Might be fun for all of us to share some of our wedding plans too...focus on the fun as well as our goals :)

You're getting married the month after I am! We will be able to reach our goals.

It doesn't help that I'm a type I diabetic...and if I have a low blood sugar, I have to treat it...and that's additional calories. Rats.
  • i got married april 2011, but we did a small thing were it was just me and him. we are planning on doing a huge wedding april 2012 so i want to lose my weight by my wedding day. i have quite a bit to go but my goal is 10lbs a month. I got stuck for awhile and couldnt seem to lose a lb . i heard that it was because my metabolism slowed down because it got used to my consistant eating habitis (i eat the same time every day) so i changed it up and i lost 10lbs in under a month  since you have quite a ways before your wedding day i wouldnt try to rush it maybe do some different exercises than what you are now just completely change up your routine and start a new one that way it speeds up your metabolism and will help you lose weight. Good luck to you and Congrats

We did something similar-our legal ceremony was this past July (see my profile pic) and our big ceremony is in August, 2012.

I've been trying to mix up my workouts but I do get into a food rut, which is embarassing because I'm a dietitain. I try to do lots of whole grains, fruits and vegetables. Fortuntely I love those things so it's not difficult to incorporate them into my diet. I suffer from "hidden calorie syndrome"...in things like coffee...especially this time of year when eggnog is available. The holidays are always a struggle.

I have looked at many websites in the past, but only when they appeared as pop-ups or when I decided to google. I can't recommend any, because I didn't keep track of it. However, I would love to hear from other brides on what they have done or plan on doing. I was thinking on getting married maybe New Year's eve of next year. It gives me plenty of time to lose weight, and time for the drama in my life to cool down.

Recommendations of things that have worked for me are:

    1. Count your calories
    2. Join a challenge. When you have people counting on you, you don't want to let them down. That's why the challenges have worked for me!

Yeah-I'm counting the calories using my food journal...I'm already pretty used to counting carbohydrates. I should join a challenge though...I'm getting annoyed with my lack of progress.

I'm on Belinda's November challenge. I really like it. There were some people that dropped out and she was looking for people to be placed on the back up list also. you could give that one a try... let me know if you need the link...

    However, good luck and enjoy!
