i know its way early to be thinking about....
what is everyone making for Christmas dinner? i dont do a turkey or a ham because i dont want to eat turkey a month after i just had it and ham i feel is an easter dinner staple. the year my father passed away my sister and i made his homemade soup for christmas. the next year i made pot roast with mushroom gravy and last year it was spaghetti with homemade sauce (again dads recipe). i dont know what to do this year but i want something different and healthy that my whole family will eat

It's nothing fancy but my family eats red beans and rice for Christmas. It's delicious and something you can put on and leave while enjoying the company of your family.0

Just the thought of Christmas at this time of year makes me stabby. Check back in a month.
What are you wearing for Fourth of July, 2012?0 -
I make a roast, in the crock pot...it's delicious!!! Plus I do a roast chicken for those who do not eat beef.0

I usually do a standing rib roast (prime rib w/ au jou) for X-mas. Gordons food sevice has them precooked.... really easy and everbody loves it!0

I was totally going to suggest soup, but if you want something totally different that might be out. What about Christmas Brunch, or breakfast for dinner? There's such a wide range of foods, and not just scrambles eggs. You can definately add a mix of healthy stuff like fresh fruit and a breakfast quiche for you, along with the heavier stuff for everyone else....0

I made cornish game hens one year for Christmas. They were very tender and tasty...0

BBQ ribs, mac and cheese, mixed greens, potato salad, my mom usually makes the turkey and ham0

I would go for fajitas and tamales! We really enjoy mexican for Thanksgiving and Christmas!0

I usually make a chestnut and mushroom bourguignon as most of us are vegetarian. Last year I did artichoke, walnut, squash and feta roulade, which was ok.0

We pick a different cuisine for each Christmas: Italian, Mexican, Chinese, etc. Everyone brings a their favorite or new dish from the chosen cuisine for that year. It has worked out well and we have got to try some new, fun, and yummy foods.0

Tamales, baby. Also, pozole is a great, hearty stew (made with pork or chicken and hominy) that is enjoyed in Mexico for Christmas and New Year's.0

Christmas is my one day of the year off. I throw a party the night before and we eat leftovers for Christmas. This has become one of the kids favorite days of the year, because they know if there are any cookies left over, they can have them for breakfast.0

I have NO idea. This will be the first Christmas Dinner in 10 years I won't be making. I've been invited to significant others family gathering.
Usually I make prime rib and all the trimmings.0 -
Talk to your family about the foods your Dad loved and clean them up. A good pot of chili and baked potatoes maybe?0

Greek food. Spanakopita, moussake, a big greek salad with black olives in abundance, and baklava or creme caramelle for dessert.
Yum to the power of infinity.
Also, my side of the family has done Chinese potluck for Thanksgiving for a number of years now, and we had to miss it a couple of years in a row. So turkey dinner at Christmas is still a treat. My husband and I even went out for sushi on Christmas Eve one year because we wouldn't be around family for the big event. It was great!
You could do a different theme every year and keep it interesting. :-)0 -
Many years ago we had this conversation with my Mother-too much turkey. So since then we've always done steak. If I'm having Christmas at my house I buy Chateaubriand or a Prime Rib Roast and then I make homemade Bernaise sauce. Super yummy!0

Amen on the pozole!!! That's the first question I ask whenever I talk to my comadre about Christmas Eve dinner...the only thing that matters is if there will be pozole!!!0 -
It's festivus for the rest of us! Hey! Not really sure what I'm making yet. But I'm thinking about grilling some turkey drumsticks.
