Running

I am currently starting week 8 (of a 10 week half marathon plan) and this last week or so my legs have been bothering me (probably due to the increase in miles over the last 8 weeks) last week my right calf felt pretty sore; I want to somewhat take it easy to let my body rest and stay strong and yet not lose the progress I have been making. Anyone have any good advice for recovery and/or injury prevention? I am thinking of just keeping my long run to once a week (like I've been doing) but (not to ask a stupid or an obvious answer question) what might be some good alternatives to still keep on track with my training plan besides running? I did some elliptical and stationary bike tonight but now I feel as if I am 'going easy' because I'm getting paranoid of 'injuring' myself. Any advice or even motivational quotes would be great; I am thinking the mind game may be my biggest factor more-so than my actual body being a factor. Thanks for motivation and support.

When is your race? What is your longest run so far?
How about a spin class at the gym? Maybe an hour of spin followed by the elliptical?0
