Any recommendations? I have been using the Body Fortress brand from Walmart, but my buddy told me to watch out for the cheaper brands. I guess since they're not regulated by the FDA, they can't put whatever they want on the nutrition label...true or not. I just got back from Complete Nutrition. Of course, the guy there told me that their brand is contains exactly what the label says it does. Any help would be appreciated.

I use Body Fortress too. Cheaper? Man in the States I usually buy at least 6 jugs for home. Protein powder is twice the price here. How can it have less nutrients? It would have to be approved wouldn't it? Sure tastes like whey protein.

I like the Body Fortress stuff. The price is pretty good. $13 or so at Walmart. I just dropped $31 on the Complete Nutrition Onyx brand. This is what the label says on Body Fortress' website....

I am kind of partial to the Gold Standard brand and flavor of Delicious Strawberry...2 pounds for about $30....tastes like Strawberry quick...YUM!!!
  • I use Gold Standard too and it is the best tasting I have found. I like the chocolate flavor best well because I need my chocolate fix during the day lol I mix mine with water instead of milk to cut extra calories and it is actually drinkable haha

I've been using Designer Whey. It was cheaper than all the rest I saw. I pay $18 for one of those big buckets.

I use MRM Whey...I get both the vanilla and teh chocolate...best tasting of the 3-4 I have tried...get it on sale at Henry's or online, pretty reasonable....only 2 carbs....

whatever brand you try make sure you check the sugar content....avoid any with added sugars....MRM is under g of naturally occuring sugar

You need some sugar after a workout though, sugar! I think Body Fortress is covering them selves in case people thought it was going to help them like a med would. Plus it looks like for what BF has said above on the jug, the FDA has not tested that THOSE statements are true. I think there is no problem with it, although it does contain soy I noticed (super advanced does anyway), and I read men shouldn't take in to much of it as it is a pseudo estrogen. How much is in it? Probably very little. It'slisted near the bottom. I'm sticking to it!

I like Jay Robb. It says no hormones were used in the milk to create the whey, and it's sweetened with stevia. It's a little on the pricey side -- I just paid $25 for a large container -- but I don't use a lot of it.

As I wrote that, it just hit me on the futility of avoiding hormone-produced milk. I've been drinking cheap milk for months -- after the economic downturn, we couldn't afford the local farm stuff anymore. The joke's on me. I like the stevia, versus other sweeteners, though.
