HELP, I'm a little Aussie hitting the Ski-slopes in a months time (for the first time in my life) and need to get my hands on some winter attire ASAP!

I'm sure there are MFPal's on here that live either love in icy climates, or love to jet-off to snowy terrains for a holiday of skiing. I'm mainly looking for a Jacket, Pants & Gloves (will hire the ski gear ). Are there any online stores you could recommend?

Happy to buy US and get it shipped to Australia (AUD is strong at the moment).

Thanks in advance!

Trying not to freeze,
Picinina

I am not sure if they will ship to where you are, but I use www.Academy.com

I LOVE LOVE LOVE their polar ridge cold gear. I wear the "warmest" base layer they make when we go hunting often times it get's below zerooooo and it keeps me really toasty underneath it all!!

Black Diamond is headquartered in the U.S., but has a global following and ships worldwide. The company has an Asia manufacturing/distribution base (in Zhuhai, China), which may mean shipping costs to Australia may not be that bad. They made their name in skiing and mountaineering. Excellent equipment and worth the prices as the gear usually lasts for years. (www.blackdiamondequipment.com)

I believe REI also ships international (www.rei.com). You can get a wider range of prices/brands there, since they're a reseller. I would avoid Columbia though, as their stuff has fallen apart on me within months. Arc'teryx is overpriced (you're paying for brand), but the quality is sturdy -- it'll stand up to some abuse as long as you don't spill pasta sauce on your pants (don't ask how I know that, lol). The North Face and Marmot are generally safe bets, and the REI branded stuff isn't bad, but is about middle of the road.
  • Well, what a great head-start I have. Looks like I have a bit of online shopping to do! Did someone say shopping?!?!

    Thanks everyone!
