Christmas Survival guide??

It's already started and it's only November..... The lunches out to catch up with friends, the evenings out booked up ages in advance 'cos everyone's off on holiday. This is not good for me. I'm trying to lose weight for my"special birthday" in January but I still want to socialise and be part of the festivities... I also have the backbone of a mollusc as soon as I've had a glass of wine, were it not the case I'd probably be nice and slim and not on here! What are your coping strategies -any top tips??

One of the best tips I ever had for the Holidays was from weight watchers. It is "don't eat the every day stuff"--
So, I know we all think we are supposed to eat vegetables.. but, you can have mashed potatoes anyday.. they arent special to the Holidays. The dinner rolls--did they come from a package.. then you can have them any day.. skip them. Eat those things that only come around now.. Maybe for you it's the pumpkin pie, stuffing,.. the sweet potato casserole? I may even skip the turkey on Thanksgiving.. as I know that I can have it later on sandwiches.. :) It has really helped me.

This may not be super helpful when eating out.. ? But, anything you can leave out during all of those visits will be helpful. Good Luck, you are bringing up a point that will affect us all :)

I guess "portion control" is the boring answer, but when faced with overwhelming amounts of special treats and seconds of pudding, it's the only way. Sorry!
