Is it me or the food?

Hello all! I have been doing an unbelievable job at working out, drinking water, and eating clean for 260 days in a row (shot out to MFP). Friday, I don't know what came over me. I ate a snickers and all hell broke loose. Before I knew it I had another snickers, two bags of chips, and then I went to Applebees and had a lot of spinach dip w/nachos, salad w/extra ranch dressing, 8 ounce steak, mashed potatoes, mixed veggies, a long island, and a twix bar. The next day I went to the gym and I couldn't keep up with my routine that i've been doing for at least 7 months . I was extra sweaty, had no energy, and had to stop every 3 mins or so to take a break. Did a day of eating heavy and unhealthy things make my body weak or was it that my guilt for falling off make me lose my drive?

No it's the food. Junk food makes you feel like crap when you are not use to it. If I have a bad day. I drink a lot of water with lemon for the next few days until I feel better.0

Well, I think its the food! You need proper nutrition to fuel yourself, and your work outs. I think you did the best thing you can do though after you fall off the wagon...just keep on keepin' on. Instead of letting it turn into a string of bad eating days, you got up and got back to the gym. I think one bad work out, in the grand scheme of things, isn't as important as the dedication you showed after a slip up, to get right back to it. Just think of it as a lesson learned, back to clean eating and continuing your work outs!0

Definitely the food. I ate a bunch of pretzel/chocolate things at work on Halloween,. and by the time I was driving home, my heart was pounding, hands shaking and stomach cramping up.....thought I was going into a diabetic coma or something.
Congratulations on cleaning up your eating habits so well. I'm sure you felt crummy for a while, but it will make it easier to resist having the bad stuff next time for sure!!0 -
I think it was also probably your body using extra energy to digest all that food, causing you to not have enough energy for your workout. 1 out of 260 days is pretty impressive though, so I wouldn't worry too much about it!0

Could be a little of both...I know bad food will weigh you down. When I eat bad, I'm sluggish and my mood is blah!!!! But it goes away w/correct eating....My mood improves b/c I feel like I am back on it and my energy level is up from the great eating. I know you will be back on top of it in no time. Sometimes we need a break, so don't beat yourself up too bad for the eating. You body knows what to do and it will get back in the program!0

i think it is the food as well. of course you know i did not eat the best the whole week! eventhough i stayed within my calorie goal, the foods were not good. I went to class Saturday and felt as if i was going to pass smooth out in a class that normally gives me a burn and i sweat but never to the point of which i feel so nauseous and as if i am going to fall out. i don't want to have another week like that again!!!! i do not like feeling like that at all. it is a good thing that anniversaries only come one time a year. it's back to healthy eating for me Don't beat yourself up because you do and look amazing!!!!0

I agree with what everyone said! It was the food, you did the right thing, awesome job of all those junk food free days...etc! My only thought is maybe allow yourself small treats every now and then. One or two fun size candy bars will not ruin you from time to time and maybe if your body gets that little bit every now and then it won't go crazy on the extra eating when it accidentally happens once in 260 days! Keep up the good work!0

Thanks y'all! For those who don't know me, I have been on a very strict diet only allowing me to eat chicken, , eggs, wheat noodles, turkey, fish, brown rice, veggies, grapefruit, and apples. Maybe me low carbing and eating like that made me lose my mind for a minute. It's only for 30days and then I can go back to eating lean beef and potatoes again (11-15-11)0

Stop eating "clean," fit foods you like into your calorie goal. You won't feel deprived, which will lessen the desire to binge. It will also get rid of the "I ate something bad, my whole day is ruined" mentality.0
