Why do I feel thinner but not weigh less?

Up until now this has never happened and it's been close to a year of dieting. I feel thinner, I fit into a smaller size but the scale is moving soooo slowly. By the way I FEEL I'd swear I lost 5 pounds. I don't weight train, but do do cardio.. What could be causing this?
Anyone else ever felt your feeling did not jive with your weight?

Simple. Get your bodyfat tested. Problem is I don't think you got it done when you started.
I'd GUESS that you have gained some mucle mass in the legs from the cardio. Which I could see happening if you were pretty sedatary in the beginning.
You are improving so don't sweat it. For the majority of people, it's the fat loss that is really at the core of their goals. Not necessarily weight. Just that weight is a convenient tool to measure from0 -
Another possible cause: you did lose more than the scale indicates, but you're also retaining fluid either from the food you're eating or muscle soreness from exercise. I can retain more than 5 pounds if I have excess sodium, but it doesn't affect the way my clothes fit.0

Yep totally. Last week I felt so much lighter. My tummy felt like it was a bit smaller. My clothes were feeling good. Friday I got loads of compliments. Stepped on the scale feeling confident only for it to say I had gained a pound. Scales are evil. They know when you're feeling good and bring you down on purpose. FACT! :laugh:0 -

ha ha totally! Mine are clearly possessed by an evil demon who is trying to get me to cave in to chocolate!
I have been doing this two weeks and haven't lost an ounce. BUT today is the first day i FEEL thinner, mainly my tummy.
Hang on in there, the loss will keep coming!0 -
I am wondering how much you retain from muscles being sore!0

this is when you will see the advantages of measuring inches.
I often feel and look thinner, my belly is flatter - but scale says I did not lose, or even gained.
But then I measure with my tape, and see I have lost inches. - Win!
Scale weight alone is a poor gage to use.
You can hold 5 lbs or so of water in muscle tissues.0 -
"Feeling" thinner or fatter is all in your head. Cold, hard, measurable facts are what indicate progress0

The evil demons are built into the mechanism. :laugh:0 -
I have had this happen before too. When I measured too I usally had lost inches even though the weight was up. ANd the following week or two the "extra" weight would be gone.0
