    Give it at least 48 - 72 hours. Keep in mind that this is a non-emergency situation at this point and the police have to priortize their case load. After 72 hours, if you have not heard, call and ask to speak to an officer that responded as someone else posted. Ask for the other driver's information for insurance purposes and if they have not followed up yet ask for an estimated timeframe to call back for the information. When you call the 2nd time if they still don't have the information available to provide, then have either the insurance company or a lawyer call for the information. This shows that you are willing to be patient and understand the caseload they may (probably) have but that this is also important for you to get resolved especially since an injury was involved. Also, by you I mean your faux boyfriend. Since it's not your car and you weren't involved in the accident the police probably won't release information to you about the case.

    It not required that they contact you at all in a hit and run around here. A very close friend of mine was the pedestrian in a hit and run accident and almost lost his life. He NEVER heard from the police until his family called them for an update.
