Meditation?

I'm wondering if anyone on here uses meditation as a way to relax, reduce stress, and help with their weight loss journey. I don't know very much about meditation, but I feel like its worth a try, because i think that most of my overeating problems come from anxiety. If anyone has used meditation before, do you have a specific program that you recommend? Any other advice is greatly appreciated!

It can help but its hard to stick with it...
  • Yes. I have an entire page dedicated tot he subject on my blog. There are numerous different schools of thought and beliefs when it comes to meditation. Some are much more difficult to learn than others. I practice the Zen form which can be performed from a seated position in a chair. It's one of the easiest methods to learn and practice.

Zen meditation is essentially counting your breathing, focusing on it to the exclusion all else. You can find a lot of info on it on line.

I love meditation. I need it. For me its more about listening. My belief is this, when I pray I talk to God, when I meditate I listen. And this is MY God, which may not be your God. And I know when I have done it right because there is a sense of inner calm that cannot be explained. Its just peace. Whether it helps with my weight loss or not, I don't know. But it sure does help with me and my mental state, my emotional state, and my over all sense of well being.

Sit and listen. That is what meditation is mostly about. Be still, be calm and listen. To simply sit and be is not as easy at it sounds. When you can successfully calm the inner, the outer soon follows.
