I'm living in Germany, I have never seen Laughing Cow cheese here. But I'll be on the lookout.
@ GuruMeditation: I would really like to cut it out as much as possible. That's why I need alternatives :-)
@ littlesis412: Thanks for the tip. I haven't even heared of humus yet...

I think they mean 'La vache qui rit' cheese... You do have that in Germany

I love cottage cheese! Especially with pineapple. Or you could try one of the light cheese spreads like Philadelphia.

There is no alternative to Cheese... Cheese is holy and must be worshipped.

Ok for now, I've cut back on hard cheeses such as Leerdammer, Cheddar and so on. I still sprinkle some grated Gran Padano on my pasta and have found some lower fat cheddar to grate over certain dishes.

Otherwise, it's cottage cheese which I love and have daily or cream cheese such as Philadelphia which comes in so many varieties and I use it a lot in cooking too.

Hommus mixed with parmesan gives a nice spread with good substance and lots of cheesy goodness.

What about some of the soft cheeses like cottage cheese, ricotta, cream cheese.
Or go for a dip/spread like hommus, guacamole or similar.

Or Vegemite. But unless you're Australian you might not like that!
