I joined here in early January and started my "diet" whcih is really a change of lifestyle on the 3rd Janary.. 28 days ago.
In that time I have lost 4lbs and a total of 6.5 inches!
Last year it took me nearly a full year to fully loose 14lbs, I am so amazed with this site and everyone's enthusisam for each other to succeed!
Since I joined this site I have finally realised what I need to do in order to improve my diet, how much exercise I need each day and the importance of doing both..
I know it is only 4lbs but last year I was lucky if i even lost 1lb a week never mind 4 in 4 weeks!!
I am delighted!! :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

Way to go!!! Don't you find that the 5 week "If every day was like today you'd be....." a real motivator--I just love looking at it!!
Swimming is a great exercise---my daughter and I just swam a mile in 56 minutes--phew---but after a 2 mile walk ALL THOSE EXERCISE CALORIES TO EAT!!!!!
I actually have my 13 year old daughter on MFP with me---totally supervised---but with all the childhood obesity I thought why wait until 18! She is reading labels, eating healthier snacks and working out with me. WE actually ate a plate of oven baked sweet potato fries for supper last night---she loved them!!!
Maybe this site could have kids join with their parents on the up and up instead of fibbing about age.
She has lost 2 pounds a week (six pounds in last 3 weeks), and is eating all her exercise calories--oh to be young!!

I have to give you kudos for getting your daughter involved. You are never too young to learn healthy eatin habits and exercise habits. My daughter is 21 months and she already tries to stretch with me. It's so cute. She thinks it's fun and I want to keep it that way.
My parents harped on the importance but as a kid you don't see baseball as exercise, it's just a fun sport and I had no I dea what my mom was doing at the gym when I was young either. They would just be on my case about eating junk foo and not exercising, but never really getting involved with me in doing so until I was older. I was 12 when I started playing ball and I loved it. That was my only exercise though. I wish I knew at that age that it would be soooo much easier to stay at a healthy weight than to keep going as I did and have to lose it all later. They always encouraged sports when we were interested in them and even coached my ball team when I joined and my dad was no longer playing himself. But we never went for runs or bike rides and stuff together. the ocassional walk, but nothing else.0 -
