you dont seem to have much weight to lose as you are very tall. i would suggest set your goals to lose 1/2 pound per week, do high intensity interval training. run for 30 seconds power walk for 1 minute, do it for about 20 minutes or however long you can. aim to go a little faster and longer each time. another good one is doing 50 skips, then 6x10 lunges (3 lots of ten on each leg) then 50 skips (you can even do these without the rope!) then 3x10 squats. 50 skips then 3x10 situps. you see where im going! then eat back at least 3/4 of your exercise calories and be patient and the weight will come off!

forgot to add: the exercise will get you nice and toned. also do weight training. you can google some good routines, you wont gain muscle. it is VERY hard to do so, especially as a woman. start with lighter weights and do 6-10 reps. increase the weights as you can!

If you had a routine, and it was a healthy one, and you lost weight with it and then gained weight when you went back to your old ways, then go back to the routine. However, it seems you don't have much weight to lose. Perhaps you should just work on weight training and toning up if you feel you don't like the way you look. Just be careful, I don't know you, but I can tell you that you aren't fat.

How can you tell? There's no picture. The stats she gave are very similar to mine, and I am sitting here with nearly 30% body fat. :flowerforyou:

At any rate. perhaps you had a great routine but it was too much for you to start out with? It's generally a good idea to just start out slow and add more exercise as you go along. I started out with a couple days a week of cardio, but am up to 5 days of cardio with 3 days of weights per week.

Pick exercises, both cardio and weights, that you enjoy. If you don't enjoy them, you won't do them. If you do enjoy them, you are more likely to stick with. Also make sure your calorie goal is realistic. Since you don't have that many pounds to lose, setting your goal high at 2 pounds per week loss is most likely too high. A slow and steady pace is best for those last pesky pounds. To lose body fat, you don't need to severely cut calories, just have a deficit under your maintenance.

Sorry, but she's an 18 year old that is saying she hates herself. I'm 5'3.5", 158 lbs and 30% body fat. This site is set up to help people lose weight and get into a healthy lifestyle. I just don't feel it's healthy to let young people hate themselves and have such a negative self image. You have no idea if she is or isn't "fat" either, but I'd prefer not to put anyone on the path to an eating disorder.

I hope you aren't implying that my giving nutrition and exercise advise isn't leading someone into an eating disorder.

Nope-just saying that I don't want to blindly call someone fat when she's making comments like "I hate myself for being this fat."

I acknowledge that as you say I don't know what her body fat % is, but just as I don't-neither do you, and neither of us knows what her 'routine' was before. It all comes down to healthy eating and exercise doesn't it?
  • thanks everyone for all your advise i really appreciate it thanks
