12lbs and 7.2 inches?

I busted out my measuring tape this morning. This is the first time I've measured since I started in November. So far I've lost a total of 7.2 inches, but only 12lb. This seems very weird and abnormal, and while I tried to be acurate about how I measured (I even drew myself a little diagram in the beginning to show where on my body I put it) and I always exhale all the way when taking the final measurments so I'm not taking a 'sucked in' measurement, could I just be measuring wrong?:noway:

I don't really care, and I'm not worried because I'm in this for health, it just seems a bit outragous. Wondering if others have had similar results? Or if thats just not possible and I need to just stop measuring because I suck.

I think you are right on track. Don't they say that you loose inches before you really notice the pounds? 7 inches is awesome I think. Keep it up!:flowerforyou:

Muscle weighs more than fat, as they say! You're probably just gaining muscle as you lose the fat and that makes you look leaner even if you don't weigh much less.

That is totally normally, you are building up your muscles. That is why it is a good thing to do your measurements also. For those weeks when you lose nothing...seeing the inches come off can help to keep you motivated and on the right track!

Keep up the great work!:drinker: CHEERS!!!

Aww thanks guys. It just seemed like a lot of inches for (in comparison) not much weight. I have been exercising like a fiend though, alternating strength days with cardio days 6 times a week. Hopefully some of that is muscle.

If you are exercising, you are probably gaining muscle and losing fat, thus, you will lose inches but the weight will come off slower since muscle weighs more than fat. But still, I'd definitely take the inches.
    Congrats! & keep it up.

    Thanks everyone.

I think my big problem with wrapping my brain around that was I have never had a clear concept of what a 'good' amount of inches is, in terms of weight loss. You know you hear those infomercials and they're like 'I lost Xlbs and X inches."

I was just wondering if it was a proper ratio. Nobody stopped in and said 'Thats not possible' so I'm just going to assume I measured correctly. :drinker:

Just stand naturaly and breathe normally while you measure. The unfortuatate part is we're ALL obsessed with numbers. I sure am. Body fat % # is my nemesis. You are doing awesome, and you are LOSING! Keep up the great work.
