Why have I eaten more and lost weight?

Hi,
Normally I have to eat 1200 and do exercise to lose 0.5 lbs a week (I eat my exercise calories). Yet I've been feeling a really busy and a bit under the weather so I have laid off the exercise. In the last 7 days I have eaten an average of 1715 calories a day with no exercise. 3 days in and I lost half a pound and now I have lost another 1.5. These are stubborn pounds that I have been trying to get rid off since I came back from honeymoon. I don't get it?!!! This is also the time of the month that I normally retain water (and I can feel I am).
Has this happened to anybody else? Its not a loss of muscle as I don't have that much muscle and couldn't have lost this much muscle this quickly.
My maintainence calories are supposed to be 1600ish.
Happy...but confused!?

If you've laid off the exercise then it's highly likely what you're experiencing is water weight loss. Your muscles retain water for healing while you're exercising, but if you stop, they're going to let go of that water. You can expect it to return (at least some) when you resume exercise.0

or you may be one of those people who need to eat more to lose weight...
i was not losing when i was exercising like 1000 cals a day and not eating them back but i started eating them and bumped my calories.
your metabolism may have needed a kick start0 -
I would say it's because you are fueling your body more and part water weight too from the lack of exercise.
I'm kind of confused as to why you need to eat 1200 to lose .5 a pound.. Most people when losing 1 or 2 pounds is eating 1200, but I've rarely seen 1200 for .5.
I'd try upping your calorie goal a bit and see what happens... You may be surprised and this weight loss may continue.0 -

If she's sedetary, short, and already of a fairly low weight, then her BMR is going to be pretty low.0 -

True... I guess since I'm super tall, I forget about the shorties of the world0 -
