Condiment Thievery

I'm guilty of "hoarding" the remaining unopened condiment packets from to-go places especially if they're relatively healthy (e.g. hot sauces, light mayo, mustard, lemon juice, etc). I'm not saying I grab a handful, just one or two more than I'm going to use for the food I got.

Also, I have trouble turning down a free sample. What can I say, I like to try new things!

My question for you is...is this "normal? LOL Do you have a condiment/first aid/tea bag drawer of sorts that you've "collected" over time??

What are your little guilty "pleasures".

Can't wait to hear some responses!

I still plates from pubs, as well as mustard bottles and sometimes coasters. I have no shame.

I have a drawer at home, as well as a compartment in my car full of ketchup, hot mustard, sporks, napkins all from restaurants....you never know when you might need them =)
  • Ya know....the shows on TV about "hoarders?".... me thinks they start out small, with things like saving a bazillion ketchup packets

I can tell you this_ YOU'RE NOT ALONE....

I help people organize their kitchens from time to time-

however, what baffles me is this:

? Why are the drawers/fridge always FULL of these items- and it's apparent they seldom actually USED...
  • We always seem to have Taco Bell sauces in the fridge. Recently started collecting the Papa Johns thin crust seasoning packets (I put it on everything).

You know that shelf in the fridge with the door that goes up and down? For butter? Ours used to be full of little ketchup, mustard, soy sauce, and whatever else packets. We don't have any now because we don't really eat out much anymore.

Wait....are we talking about keeping the leftovers in your house, or actually taking some on your way out just to have some? I've seen people take Equal/Sweet n Low off the table and stick it in their purses. To me that's tacky and wrong!!!

I always pinch them. They are great for BBQ's, picnics and lunchboxes. You're certainly not alone :) x

We don't often eat out but when we occasionally get some sachets with a takeaway, they go on that shelf in the fridge! However, I'm getting better at using them up (trying to declutter) so we only have a few right now. The thing that I can't bring myself to throw away and yet never seem to use are the little wet towelettes in foil packages - I have lots of them! :ohwell:

I will keep the extras if I happen to take too many, but I'm not so cheap that I would steal them on purpose. Good grief, buy a bottle of ketchup at the store.

I have a container like that in my desk drawer at work. I have tons of ketchup that is left over from places. I don't even know why I keep it. The only time I ever use it is in homemade sauces or on breakfast potatos that I occasionally make on the weekends. At home. I think I just need to toss them. I think a lot of people probably have some packets of stuff lying around from take-out and such.

And to the previous poster, I don't grab extra on my way of anywhere and I didn't read it that the OP does either. It's the extra that is left over at the end of the meal (i.e. you grab 4 but only use 2 or 3) that is taken home. I won't grab the sugar packets from the table either. My father-in-law is shameless. I remember he was taken to the ER once and I was in the room with him and we were waiting on the doctor. This man grabs a few pairs of the latex gloves from the box and shoves them down in my purse. I just looked at him and asked him what he was doing. His response "I pay enough for these visits, I'm going to get my money's worth!" All I could do was look at him and go "really?"
