Can you take a week say Sun - Mon then say you have messed up and have a few minus calorie days and a few good overage calorie days and if you still add all the days up and end up over the entire week with an overage of calories - you can still lose, weight right? Because for the entire week you have your total calorie goal to the good side in other words you have say like still 100 calories left unused.

This is what happened to me last week. Now this week I'm starting over in the hole again but it's a new week and if I have say some of my exercise calories to work off of and get me back to even by the end of my week.

Making sense??

In terms of overall weight loss, if you're in a deficit at the end of the week then you'll lose weight.

    Is overage a word?
  • I think overage is a word! Ha, ha!

Thanks Sidesteal, I needed to know if I was thinking right. :drinker: I so appreciate it. I'm beating myself up for starting a new week out very poorly with going out to eat last night at Longhorns and blowing my calories for the day!
  • and yes, Sarah, "overage" is a word. Now you can use it in Scrabble

I go by the day. If I blow one, I simply write it off and start over tomorrow. When I started MFP, I was cycling 4 days a week, over 30 miles a day. Then, I went on a five day 300 mile ride. At the end of the summer, I had gained weight. IT was the most exercise I had done in one summer in 30 years. Anyway, when I tracked calories, I realized I was eating enough on exercise days, but way over on non-exercise days. So, I started watching calories on non-exercise days and the weight came off.

But, when invited to Longhorn BBQ, I would go and simply try to eat lighter the rest of the day. If I am over one day, oh well. Just don't make a habit of it. Overall, it's a lifestyle.
