OMGosh!!!! I cannot beleive what I just did....I went and blew a really great day with a bunch of ooey gooey cookies I wasn't even hungry for. This was after I ate an apple & peanut butter that I was hungry for....logged it in and noticed I had done extremely well with both my exercise and eating today.

I am sooooo lviid with myself!

I do NOT understand why I felt compelled to go and do that. I seriously was NOT hungry. Why? Why? WHY? I can't seem to let myself succeed. Does anyone else do this?

I think sometimes we do that out of boredom. I know I have.

I totally feel ya! I was doing great today, then decided it would be good to have a bunch of grasshopper and caramel-filled cookies...um hello, that's like 650 calories!! I just need to be better and just keep moving. I'm glad that I'm not the only one upset with myself tonight, but it's okay, tomorrow's another day, right?

Best thing I did was jot down how I felt after indulging. It got to the point after eating garbage food (i.e. Mcdonalds) that while it was sooo satisfying at the time, after I finished I just felt bloated and horrible. I finely reached the point where my took control of my taste buds and realized their was something greater happening to me than a few cookies!!!

It happens, and don't worry, your next workout will be even better with the extra glucose your storing :) Just work a bit harder, you'll be alright!

You are right...I just don't get why I do that to myself. :grumble: This is the really bad part....the cookies were hidden in the freezer out in my garage. I mean, I had to work hard at being bad!

Anyone have suggestions on how stop this kind of self-sabotage????

Good point... (although, secretly, I do want to know her recipe for those grsshopper cookies)!!!

It's interesting your comment about jotting down what I was feeling, because that's the weird part. I was just thinking that I was so proud of myself that when I was hungry I really wanted an apple, sliced w/ a little sprinkle of cinnamon sugar on it and some peanut butter. So I ate it, and for better or worse, I logged it...that's when I was like, "WOW, I did sooooooo great today, good job." And without thinking about how I was feeling, I thought....."hmmmm. I'm going to go get into those cookies I've got hidden i the freezer." So, in wiritng this to you, I think I'm either subconsciously rewarding myself with food or undermining my success or both.

HOLY COW, WOW!!! That's a great article!!!! Thank you so much for posting it. I'll try to remember that 3 minute rule...and I'll try to think about what's goign on with me...but I'm pretty sure I do NOT hate my kids. Man that gal was a little messed up....I felt bad for her, she seemed so over her head. Come to think of it, I am over my head with some things in my life...but why eat? Doesn't it seem like you'd want to be successful not a failure when you are stressed or overwhelmed??? It just seems odd that many of us turn to food in times like these.

lol yeah well, I have one thing written down that I refer to all the time. Which isn't how I feel after I eat something but rather how i feel in the morning when I wake up. If I eat like crap- I CAN FEEL it the next day! It never fails that I wake up just grumpy and groggy. I love waking up to an empty stomach that is ready for whatever I throw in it! Which typically is cottage cheese, oats, and egg whites blended with a bit of splenda, cinnamon, and vanilla extract...thrown into a hot pan until golden brown and topped with Carb Master Strawberry yogurt....lol Trust me- When I get to start my day like this! O my, it always turns out to be a great one!

    Recipe:

    1/2 cup Oats
1/2 cup Fat Free Cottage Cheese
    1/2 cup Egg White Only
    1 tsp Vanilla
"Poof" of cinnamon lol (or a few shakes)
Splenda if you like it sweeter

    Yields 2 Medium/Large Pancakes

    Directions:

Put egg whites into a blender & blend. This will give you a very fluffy pancake which I love. Then Add the rest of the ingredients and blend until smooth. Turn on your griddle to 350 degrees & cook until each side is golden brown. I top mine with Kroger Carb Master Yogurt which yields 12 g protein, and its like I am eating a cheat meal every morning only that it nets:

    430 Cals
    40 Carbs
    43 Protein
    5 Fat
    5 Fiber
    1.5 Saturated Fat

    Extremely satisfying!

It's comforting to know you can relate...I got up this mornign and had gained back 1.2 pounds. Insult to injury I tell ya! Now today is Super "Temptation" Bowl, and I'm sort of freaking out a little. Though I know I'm making a healthy dish to share, I absolutely know, 110%, that others won't be,..and I will want every bit of what they are making.

I've already worked out this morning...but am starting to think a second big work out after I get home tonight is in order.

Pish posh- I would just make a smorgish (sp? lol) plate. Just put a little bit of this & that. 2 hours before the game get a good wholesome meal. There is nothing wrong with snacking though (That is what they are intended for) just don't do what a lot of people do

    Step:

    1. Eat plate of nachos
    2. Drink Beer
    3. More nachos
    4. Beer & Pretzals
    5. Wings with a cup of Ranch Dressing
    6. Few more swigs of beer

    you get the picture!

 But I like those steps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:drinker:

Actually, I can't eat like that, but I will gravitate to the food and begin snacking mindlessly...and I'm kinda (okay, not kinda, I AM very) short, so it doesn't take much to pack on the pounds!

I've been reading Jillian Michael's: Making the Cut...and I might try to concentrate on keep to her ratios of proteins to carbs to fats. Have you read that book yet?

Negative on the book. I like to stay close to body for life's 40/40/20 rule of thumb. Its just very easy and practical in how our society operates! Plus I work out hard, so carbs for me are just hard in general to cut out! Today is my first day back to 40/40/20 (Was on 60 proteins, 20/20 fats carbs since January 2nd! So naturally I'm loving today! And its superbowl sunday so who doesn't love a warm welcome back to some good foods-

Just got done eeating a BBQ Chicken Pizza (home made of course with a low carb crust) And just took down more pineapple than I should have...but it was my first cheat in 4 weeks, so I deserved it!

Yep...her breakdown for my body ratio is fairly close to that. As for the carbs...I REFUSE to cut those out of my diet. But, I do try to eat heatlhy carbs...as much as my family HATES it. I actually can stand to eat just regualr white bread anymore...it tastes "gummy" to me now. I will eat, on occasion, sour dough bread, ( I love the texture).

OMG...the Superbowl just about killed me yesterday. I was sooooooooo bad, that I am sooooooooooooo sick today. UGH!!!! I even had some of that Bacon Explosion recipe that was floating around on the internet...a little salty, but tasty, tasty!!!! Today I've been really good, except that I have ZERO strength to exercise...so I'm VERY upset about that. I usually exercise an hour in the morning, go for a short walk at lunch, and do another workout & walk the dog at night...burning 700+ calories in exercise is fairly normal for me (geez, no wonder I like to eat). I feel like such a slug!!!!!!!!!!!!! (And my dog is rather ticked off at me rigth now)!

Kmill...if pineapple is your only cheat in four weeks, then you are truly remarkable!!!! Are you Superman??? Maybe we crown thee "Mr. Willpower?"

On a serious note... I want to know if you follow the 40/40/20 rule when it comes to dessert, and how do you do it????? And...what's your weakness???
