I hit a bit of a plateau this past month, so I'm switching up a few things..

* I'm trying to eat cleaner. ex: I switched my plain mini bagels for whole wheat mini bagels. I have a piece of toast in the morning with PB, and I'd been using Jif reduced fat, and I switched to natural PB.

* I vary my cardio..I was a total elliptical addict, and I am trying to incorporate other things like rowing machine, and my new fave, the adaptive motion machine..so awesome!

* And lastly, I am going to try to eat 1200 calories a day..regardless of the net. My goals on here are set up to give me a 450 daily deficit. I usually burn ~300 cals working out. Is the 750 deficit ok? I'm 5'0 149lbs, so I still have easily 30lbs to go till goal.

(I've been eating a portion of exercise cals back since starting MFP on 8.31, and I am down 16lbs..I'd like to see a loss of at least 1lbs a week, so that's why I'm trying out a larger deficit)

with only 30 lbs to lose I would suggest having a caloric deficit of no larger than 500 cals/day on average.

Try doing everything you said but with a weekly loss goal of 1lb, and try incorporating some strength training as well.

Here is a guide to caloric deficits and weekly weight loss goals:
If you have 75+ lbs to lose 2 lbs/week is ideal,
If you have 40-75 lbs to lose 1.5 lbs/week is ideal,
If you have 25-40 lbs to lose 1 lbs/week is ideal,
If you have 15 -25 lbs to lose 0.5 to 1.0 lbs/week is ideal, and
If you have less than 15 lbs to lose 0.5 lbs/week is ideal.
  • ehh...not so good. 1200 calories is INCREDIBLY low for someone as active as you are. I know it's tempting but I wouldn't recommend it. Maybe 1200/1800 alternating days.

1 pound a week is a deficit of 500 calories per day. At your current height/weight you'd have that deficit without exercise if you were to eat 1200 calories. but you are exercising so you NEED more!

I think eating clean and varying your workouts is a great plan though!
