Okay I have been on here since Sept. of 08 and I had been logging my food intake and my excercise cals everyday 7 days a week. I had stayed within my cals and eatting up to 3/4 of my excercise cals everytime I would excercise, and I had only lost 5 pounds in 4 months. So what I have done was to not log anything I had eattin or even log my excercise cals and I am eatting the same and excercising the same as I had in Sept, Oct, Nov., and Dec. and since I have not logged anything I have lost almost 9 pounds in the month of Jan.
I eat the samething everyday. I drink the same amount of water everyday.
Can someone explain this to me.

  • Sounds like you are still doing what MFP recommended calorie wise beings how you haven't changed anything if this is my understanding of your post. When we change our lifestyle it takes our bodies awhile to adjust and it sound like yours has finally adjusted to the new calorie intake and is allowing you to lose weight. Sometimes our body will go through phases where we lose a lot and then it will be in a stand still and we need to adjust our calorie intake a little to shock our metabolism back into gear. I would continue to log just to make sure you are where you are suppose to be at and to log in your weight once a week. This will allow your calories to be adjusted as you lose the weight because you don't want to lose a lot of weight and not adjust your calories down because then you will get to a point where you aren't losing again. Congrats on the weight you have lost!!!
  • yeah congrats... my explanation is that you are finally attaining your fitness goals... go for it!

Perhaps logging everything was stressing you out or making you too focused on the weight loss. I know I've been surprised a couple of times by weight loss that I didn't expect - over a vacation, while traveling, during a cross-country move... I didn't trust myself when I should have!
  • Thanks everyone. I was just wondering.

Maybe all that time in front of the computer logging your food slowed you down!!

Having just recently signed up with MFP I can tell you their nutritional guidance is a bit whack. lol- I've never seen a diet recommending such a high carb intake and low protein?????? Don't yall watch your biggest loser- they tell you from day one to up the protein intake!! That is the biggest misconception with dieters everywhere. We have lived in a carbohydrate country now for some time! I am still amazed at the amount of wrong information everyone is filled with. (My Mom is the queen)

In my opinion if after one month you didn't lose any weight or even one week you should have known something was off. You need to throw your body into burn mode. 50 % protein 30% carbs & 20% fats. That is what I would have and always do when I go into a cut. In most cases I'll even be up around 60% protein by days end. Just be sure to drink lots of water.

You should have either increased your calories (In a lot of cases, my girlfriends for instance) they don't eat enough! Consuming under 1400 calories while working out is a no-no. Just timely eat 300-400 calories every 2-3 hours throughout the day. This will boost your efforts! Keep at it!

To be consuming that much protein, it helps that you are an athlete! The 50% protein rule is very high compared to most other nutrition source/percentage recommendations. It depends on your goals. Obviously a semi-pro athlete needs much more protein than a 130 lb mom.
