That sounds amazing!! I have one question though ... what is refridgerated biscuit? In the UK a biscuit is a cookie so I'm guessing it's totally not that

hm, not sure what you call them in the UK...a roll? Here they are in a tube in the refrigerated section and have about 8 or so in a pkg, you twist open the tube/can and pop them out and bake them. It's like a yeast item. Make a bit more sense? Perhaps you don't have that type of thing over there?

biscuit: a flaky, warm, breakfast food that is round, sometimes topped with white sausage gravy, completely yummy.

I don't know how to post a picture, but here is a link:

I'd be curious to know what they are referred to in the UK

I don't think we have an equivalent over here. They look like scones but sound like puff pastry. I can't really envisage eating puff pastry for breakfast so I'm guessing it's not like that either

You have way better food and a greater selection of choice than we do!! :frown:

Actually I've never eaten them for breakfast so I think it varies what folks do with them.

Some eat them for whatever meal they like and butter them....does that help at all?

    Ok just now found this::laugh:
"I'm Icelandic and here (english is not my native tounge) biscuits are like cookies (like in the UK) but not as sweet.
Here this would be refered to as a bun or roll, not a biscuit."
    ****************************************
"In North America "biscuit" means a small quick bread that is made with flour, butter (or lard or shortening), baking powder (soda), milk (buttermilk), eggs, and sometimes a small amount of granulated white sugar. A perfect biscuit, in my mind, should have a golden brown crusty top and bottom and when you split it in half it should be soft and flaky and moist enough to absorb a pat of butter, which is absolutely necessary." http://www.joyofbaking.com/Biscuits.html

If you'd like to try and make your own you can Google biscuit and many recipes will come up, you can always sub them for the above recipe.

Ok, nuff from me about biscuits!

Hey Vonzo! Where in the UK are you?

The American "biscuit " is more like a savoury item - not at all like the UK version which as you know is called a cookie over here - I just looked at the recipe for the american biscuit and in size and shape they seem like a scone but more like dough - this link might help:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biscuit

I miss the good old chocolate digestives and Hobknobs!...... my american husband must have felt sorry for me and ordered some British goodies - which has been a much needed lift as I get use to the rural Alaska lifestyle.

I live in Scotland, roughly just over an hour North East of Edinburgh. I guessed it was more of a savoury item but still don't think we have a real equivalent here. I may have to make them and give them a try
