Not sure if walking or hiking...

At least four times a week I go for an hour+ walk along the roads of my very rural NE Texas area. Technically they're roads, I guess...very rough terrain, covered in rocks the size of a baby's fist, lots of moderately-steep hills. I know if I'm walking on city streets or smooth trails, I can cover about 4 miles in an hour without even breaking a sweat. Out here, I can do a max of 2.5-3 miles an hour, and when I'm done my thighs are burning and I'm perspiring quite a lot. So do my jaunts count as walking, or can I consider it hiking?

hi, i would say because of the rough terrain it would be considered hiking. just the fact that your thighs hurt afterwards tells me you are working very hard! if you were walking you would not ache as much and probably not sweat as much either. anyway good luck on those hour hikes. they sound like a calorie burner to me!!:drinker:0

I would go with hiking since you are working so much harder, but I am no expert either0
