Don't you hate it when friends are like "you don't need to diet" or "come on, it's not that bad for you" etc? :noway: It's really getting on my nerves, and I've just stopped telling people I'm dieting at all.

    Yup, I completely understand.

I'm kind of going through the same thing right now. I was complaining about not eating right and I got this as an answer "that makes me happy".

In other words, misery loves company.

    Stay strong! :flowerforyou:

How about called it...eating healthy, instead of saying that you are on diet?

I just don't tell anyone. If they notice, I just politely say that I'm not that hungry, or that particular food doesn't sound good right now etc. My friends don't ever notice though, we are generally too busy talking to watch each other eat.

Yeah, I never say I'm on a diet.
Because I'm not. Other people may see it that way, but I don't.

One of the girls on my floor asked me to go eat out. I said I'd already eaten lunch and I was trying to eat right. She says: if you're working out you can eat whatever you want!

    ...

Not only do I hate when people comment on my food choices, I also get pretty annoyed when they ask what I have been doing to lose weight (as if I had been on drugs or starving myself) and then act like I am lying when I tell them that it's old fashioned eating right and exercise.

I know what you mean! I think people are just jealous that you are doing what they wish they could! I have found that my thinner friends are very supportive and helpful and that it is the heavier (heavier than me,that is) friends that seem to think that there is something wrong with eating healthy. I've found out that if you just dont say anything about your food choices being for weight or health reasons they seem to care less. Just say...i've really been craving salad today! (or whatever you are getting!)

Don't worry about what people think! Just eat healthy, exercise, and you will lose the weight and be a healthier person for it! :flowerforyou:

lol, I have gotten that reaction. My boss was going to complement me on my weight loss but didn't and instead asked me if I've been sick... My parents suspect I'm taking something (I don't get to see them much).

Oh - something I hate worse. When people try to give you BAD ADVICE. Holy crap. That bugs me worse than anything - when people are just so blatantly wrong (saying you should eat less than 1200 cals a day, eat whatever you want as long as it is in X food group etc). Its like, freaking get educated before you start spouting nonsense.

I just can't believe it, particuarly when the advice isn't directed at me - its directed at some poor, innocent (ignorant) soul who just might follow the advice. Just makes me want to thump them on the head and point the poor sheep to MFP.

They are known as diet sabbateurs. Food is very social so people want to make you feel good about yourself. I would suggest just telling people that you are trying to eat healthier and that since you have started, you feel so much better. It's difficult to tell people to stop doing something when it's about your health alone.

    good luch!
