So, this may come off as werid, but what are some healthier foods/drinks to buy? besides the obv. fresh fruit and veggies. Like meats? Milks?, Snacks? What foods did you add to your "healthier you" to help you to NOT eat the junk but to fill in for the junk?? I just really want to get rid of these 9lbs its going to kill me!

We have light crackers and light museli bars (the ones that arent high in sugar)

So I have a wholemeal cereal, fruit snack, lunch, muesli snack, dinner, protein shake snack if workout that evening.

The biggest thing that ever helped me was cutting down portions sizes. I was dishing up myself the same amount of food that my partner who is a foot taller than me was eating. Now I halve my dinner, one half for dinner and take the second half for lunch the next day.
  • Hi Melissag1984,

I personally avoid all products made with artificial sweeteners, including Splenda and high-fructose corn syrup. While these are debatable and controversial ingredients, I find that eliminating them helps eliminate a lot of "junk" food I would otherwise typically purchase.

For meats, I tend to purchase ones not raise by grain or hormones. For Milk, I purchase, and prefer the "nut flavor" of almond milk. Rice milk is very similar to regular milk but has a watered down texture. Of course there is also soy milk, but when I do purchase "cow" milk I check to make sure it's rBGH free. As for the last topic, drinks, I've dropped Coke and Pepsi (used to love Coke) for all-natural tea-based beverages. Steaz and Honest Aid are two companies that come to mind, however I encourage you to look at what best fit's your tastes and budget.

One last note, if you are shopping for snacks, purchase snacks that are high in protein. Protein will help satisfy hunger and last you longer in between meals.

    Hope this helps!

    Melissa,

Homemade hummus has been my savior through this thing. Its rich tasting and great in nutrients. AND VERY EASY TO MAKE! its so intimidating (at least it was for me) when I first started, but then it got easier and easier, and now I am good at it, and it only took a week! lol

I didn't have a food processor so I used a blender. you can find many recipes. I do not use Tahini, but you MUST use cumin.

that is just what worked for me, it gave me that "cheating" feeling without cheating. Oh! and instead of pita, I used baby carrots, celery, and sliced bell peppers to dip in it. I don't eat bread.

    Hope this helps.

    Ronney
