Size of HRM chest straps....

I'm starting to think about buying an HRM, but I have one question. I'm still a fairly big guy, but getting smaller. I know that most use a strap that goes around your chest. How big is the chest strap? No point in buying one if it won't fit yet.

they're adjustable and stretchy, typically. you shouldn't have a problem, i wouldn't think.

i'm a normal guy, but even at my biggest (251) i have my chest strap almost at the max. dude, i would buy a food scale first if you don't already have one. this is 80% nutrition, 20% exercise.

I agree... I've heard you can be pretty big and use them. I have mine tightened right on down now, but I'm sure my much bigger hubby could use it if I'd let him!!!!

if it doesn't fit i'm sure you could rig it up to extend somehow.

I was 380 pounds and mine fit... and lets just say I was pretty big.. My chest was 58 inches when I started. If you go a polar they come with the XL chest strap.

I'd say max on the Polar strap I just bought is probably about 50 inches. I'm about 43 around where I place mine and it's got a little room to go...

You also might want to look in to heart rate monitors that don't require a strap. The watch can take your pulse from your wrist but they tend to be not as accurate as rate monitors with the strap. Another option worth looking into is the bodybug which straps around your arm but it is expensive and requires a subscription fee to their website which has always turned me off from buying one.

If you are worried just order the $12 XXL strap from polar when you order the HRM.

I bought my Polar about a year ago (it's for sale now, BTW) and I had to order the large strap. The standard strap fit only up to 44" chest.
And the HRM will work, most definitely!
