Going over my MFP protein intake?

I've noticed almost every day I've been going completely over my protein intake to the goals that MFP have given me.
I've been sticking to all my other goals though (carbs, sugar, sodium, etc) but I was wondering if it's necessarily a bad thing to be going over protein so much?
Thanks.

No as long as you stay within your calorie goal, also note MFP's recommendation for protein is quite low.0

Awesome, thankyou. I've been staying within my calorie goal every single day.0 -
I wish I could go over on my protein intake0

I changed my Macros - lowered carbs by 5% and raised protein by 5%. I do much better with that level of each (I'm tempted to even change it another 5%)0

I also think it's important to USE the protein you're taking in. If you're working out, it's best to take in extra protein. If you're not working out, I wouldn't go over too much in the protein area. Protein is used by the body to repair worn muscles, but if there are no muscles to repair, it gets stored as fat. I go over on my protein every day, but it's usually less than 10 unless I'm working out. Good luck!0

The protein goals for MFP are extremely low.
Do not be concerned if you are eating well over what is shown.
You can easily eat 1gram of protein per pound of bodyweight with no ill effects.0 -

Protein, Carbs and Fat are the three types of energy sources you get from food. Any of the three can be stored as fat if not used up. That being said if you're eating a deficit, all three WILL be burned as energy. Therefore going over on Protein doesn't cause it to be stored as fat just because you didn't work out.0 -

Thanks everyone for your advice, and everything makes a lot of sense now. It seems so simple now.
Well I've definitely not been eating over 1g per pound of bodyweight, however since its been way over the recommendation I thought I'd check to see if I'm actually doing things right.
I have been sticking to my calorie goal every single day since I've started and clearly that's working for me, so I guess I'll continue what I'm doing now.0 -
I eat significantly more than my bodyweight in grams of protein (thanks Scott), and it ain't making me fat. Do with that information what you will.0

Whoa, didn't mean to cause a raucous. I am new here. I've talked to my doctor and my doctor confirmed that overconsumption of protein could be an issue. But maybe that's just for me. I also did research online to back up his statements and here's one of the articles. Do what you want, it's your body! Each person should take what they find online and from others with a grain of salt and do what's best for them. Good luck

I am so glad I'm not the only one who goes over the protein on a regular basis. I have been working out more and have been eating more healthy snacks as a result, such as fruits, veggies, and mixed nuts. That stuff skyrockets my protein....Thanks for posing the question!!!0
