Exercise during surgery recovery

I am having my first surgery in one week. I will be on a weight restriction for 2 weeks after that, so I know heavy exercise is out. Any suggestions (besides going for walks) on exercises that you think I might be able to do? I don't want this to affect me too much and end up gaining a lot of weight during that couple of weeks.

It would depend on what type of surgery you are having. Can you get in a pool after? That is a good way to exercise and not be full weightbearing (not sure what you mean when you say on weight restriction-how much weight you can bear or how much weight you can lift?). You can also ask your surgeon for suggestions. Good luck with the surgery!

How much weight I can lift. I won't be able to lift more than 15 lbs.
  • I think your really better off consulting your doctor about what type of workouts you should and should not be doing....we can throw some safe workouts out there and walking is pretty safe but if you want to be able to "push" yourself in workouts then talk to your doctor first or see what your limit will be after the surgery.
