I am new as well, just wanted to say hello. My sister showed me this site and the mobile app and it is very helpful.
When entering running for an exercise, it wants to know how long. Is it talking how far you ran, how much time you ran, and what is it looking for in units?

i may be wrong* If i type in running, it gives you options as to the speed. So, 10 mph would be a 6 minute mile. Once you click on the speed you ran, then you can put it "minutes performed." So, 12 minutes would be 2 miles if you ran at that speed. I use a treadmill for most running so it calculates what speed i am running at. If you run outside and have an iphone, check out track my run app. its free and tells you your average speed and the distance you went.0
