Pain in Monkey Bone

Does anyone else get pain there monkey bone when doing exercises on your back such as sit ups, reverse crunches etc? (monkey bone is at the very bottom of your back, just above your bum)

I can't do the exercises properly because it hurts so much. It isn't like a muscle pain, it's like the bone sticks too far out. The pain isn't as bad if I put a cushion there but then I worry that my back isn't flat so I may be straining it.

Anyone suffer from the same thing?

  • You might want to have your back looked at by a Doctor. I have problems with my lower back and my pelvis area. I have VERY minor Scoliois (not sure I spelled that right but I'm sure you can figure out what I was trying to spell) in the top of my back inbetween my shoulder blades that causes the rest of my spine to not be aligned and my pelvic bone to be at an angle of 1 1/2" which causes my left leg to be shorter than my right leg which in the end makes it worse...

Certain excercises aggitate my back and cause pain like you describe.. best advice would be to see a doctor.

The only time I've had anything like that was when I threw my back out. My best guess is you lower abdominal muscles are not strong enough yet to do the exercises. Maybe do only crunches instead of full sit-ups and doing slow controlled single leg lowers instead of reverse crunches. If this is spilling over into your daily life you might consider seeing a Physical Therapist.
