I have no idea what's going on with my body! I lose 5lbs and then gain 2lbs and holding there steady! Here's my routine: My calorie setting is at a loss of 1lb/week at 1460 calories. Any exercise that I do bumps that up of course. I have been doing a "definitions" class 2 days a week (strength training) and cardio for about 30 min the other days! I exercise 6 days a week- I started 1/12 and here it is Feb 1. Now I know that averages out to 1lb/week, but it's so frustrating when it's been 3 weeks and I feel no different. People, I have been busting my tail, staying within calorie range and eating all of my exercise calories and drinking water. Maybe I'm just not giving it enough time (now that I read this, it really hasn't been that long) it just seems like I've been at this forever and the scale doesn't budge. I thought my pants were a little looser this morning, but I'm not even sure about that....arghhh- just venting, that's all!:grumble:

You're doing fine. You're body may just take longer to adjust to the changes. I know I'll go a while at no loss, then all of the sudden, down 4-5. If you're new to exercise, you're muscles may be adjusting - retaining water (I heard it from bob greene, but don't remember exact details) or building more muscle mass which takes up less space. Give it time, it'll come off. Just think about how much better you're eating and how good that is for your body.0

I am in the same boat...2 weeks to lose 4lbs....and 1 day (superbowl party) to gain 3lbs.
I only went over my calories by 300 (total of 1500 for the day). And that is the 1st time in 14 days that I went over.
This morning reflected a 3lb gain...agggg!
I am going to stick with it today and I am hoping it come right back off!!!

I am right there with you guys i have been exercising for a month and doing this web sit for over 2 weeks and haven't lost a pound ugh it sucks0

I know how you feel. I've lost 9 lbs in a month...which I'm told is really good. I haven't lost anything this week and I have not went over my calories not one day. I even stayed away from the food table last night at the SuperBowl game party. It is so discouraging!:explode:
I guess it didn't come on over night so it won't come off over night. :frown:0 -

Don't worry, you did not gain 3lbs overnight. It's probably just water retention. Go back to your normal eating and exercise and that 3 will disappear.
The best thing to do is not to weigh everyday. Our weight fluctuates daily, even through out the day. The more you weigh and let it drive you crazy the more stress you gain. And stress is not good.
It takes time to lose weight. Try to learn to enjoy the journey, you don't get these days back and none of us knows if we have a tomorrow.0 -
When I get in a funk I take a good look at where my calories are consumed. Mainly I sticking to nuts, veggies, fruits, and legumes and lean meats... I steer clear of bread,pasta,rice...I also make sure I only have the very minumum of sodium per day.0

I could show you a similar post made by me just a couple months ago, I know what it's like:) I learned that a lot of people are very supportive here and have a lot of good input, but, I also learned every Body is different. For me, eating all the exercise calories that shows up in the food diary was too many for me. So now, I eat about 50-75%. I also upped my water intake from 8 of the 8 oz a day, to 96 ounces a day. Then I learned that fluctuating my calories every other day or so is actually good for my body. It works for me and I learned from others it works for. What I mean by fluctuate, is I eat 200(maybe)over what I should one day, and say 200 under what I should the next. I don't focus so hard on the numbers so I am just pulling those "out of a hat". I listen more to my body. Do I feel energetic, am I hungry, any discomfort?? I have a BMR of 1143(which I stick with 1200). I usually burn 400 ish in exercise 6 days a week. So I show a total(on this site, of 1600 they are telling me to eat). That means if I only eat 1200, I am really only getting 800 of nutrition/fuel back in my body. If I did this all the time I'd be sick(starvation mode). But, some days I will do this, not on purpose, but Im just full is all. The next day, I will probably eat 1600 or over by 100 or so. I am losing weight, faster now, than I was when I started. I feel like Im 40 again, or younger, LOL, and I am 56. No colds this Winter, or flu.
Thing is, we do have to eat enough to fuel our body. And definitely water:drinker: :drinker: :drinker: It seems to me most of us will "get" the workout hard routine down but, we don't catch onto the food we need to burn fat, and if we don't, we don't lose healthy, we end up losing lean muscle rather than stored fat.
Switch it around a little, your calories. If youre hungry eat something, healthy that is, smaller portions more often. I eat like 6-8 times a day. Make sure you are striving to get all the nutrition you need, protein, carbs, vegies, fruit, dairy, whole grains. That's what's workin for me anyway. Others have ways that work for them. That's why we have to find what's right for us

If possible Decrease your calories down to lose 2 lbs a week. Or don't eat all of your exercise calories every day. I Fill up on more fresh or sauted veggies when I'm feeling hungry and that is almost everyday. Or I microwave frozen veggies/ less sodium in them so healthier. Over the weekend I didn't eat my exercise calories and I lost 2.5 lbs between Saturday and Sunday. Also If you sweat alot increase your water.
Good luck and don't get discouraged. Bodyweight can flexuate 1-2 lbs daily based on water retention alone.:drinker: :flowerforyou:

Also make sure to do your measurements. While you may not be seeing a change on the scale, you may be losing those inches.
I also eat when I am hungry...there are days I can't make it to 1200 because I am just not hungry at all. I am drinking 96 oz of water a day also. I am amazed at how full that water makes me, and now that I have been doing that a while I don't feel like I am peeing every 5 seconds like I did when I started. It all evens out. Listen to your body yes, but being conscious and making healthy choices is important also.
Good luck on your journey. Don't give up! :flowerforyou:0 -
I am so with you. Since the 17th of January, I was 244 and down to 236.5. And I am stuck. I am walking every day nad doing weights on the yoga ball.
So, I am gonna add more veggies and lower my cals for a bit.0 -
How is your sodium level? If you go over your sodium by at least 200 you should be drinking more water!!!!! Just to get rid of that sodium in there! Just a thought!:huh:0

Thanks everyone for the encouragement! TOM slipped upon me and I'm thinking that's where the two lbs are coming from! I just get in such a hurry to lose and I guess if we gained as fast as some have lost, we'd all be in bad shape
I need to practice patience! I do feel somewhat better this morning- my clothes don't feel so tight, so maybe it's s l o w l y coming off!
Thanks again, friends!0
