stupid question: does an incline of 2.0 = 2% incline?? not sure how this works... normally i start at 3.0 and work my way up but still unsure of what exactly the 3.0 stands for...

It is the ratio of vertical to horizontal distance covered while runnning converted to a percent. 4.5% incline (or grade) means 4.5 feet of elevation gain for every 100 feet of forward motion.

ok.. my head is now spinning.... i dont think i asked the question right... i meant what does the # represent.. like does 2.5 represent 2.5% ... asking because i am trying to figure out my calories burned from a website link from another post and i was a little confused by the %%%%% thing

    Yeah, the 2.0 is %
So 2% of the distance traveled forward is in elevation (100 ft forwards = 2 ft in elevation.)
