SERIOUS HELP - Need low sugar food choices.

My calories are way under every day, but I'm usually over on sugar - which I get mostly from fruits and veggies. My doctor and my nutritionalist both say "sugar is sugar, it doesn't matter where it comes from". They say that is why I'm retaining the belly bulge even though I'm 5'6" and down to 132 lbs, 27% body fat. So now I've been way under on my calories to keep my sugars at bay which is stalling out my goal to lose more body fat.
My diary is open so feel free to offer suggestions. BTW, I can't eat seafood. My meals are actually very filling. I'm open to meal and snack suggestions.

More veggies, less fruit. Most fruits are so loaded with sugar. It's sad0

sugar isn't the reason. I don't bother to track it
Maintain a calorie deficit and the belly will go away :]0 -

your diary doesn't seem to be open to the public
However, I will offer this suggestion-
One way to "target" the belly fat is to eliminate some of the foods that store it.
Check your labels for HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP- I *realize* that is a controversial subject ( we even have ads on TV)
but after reading a book The Sugar Fix_ I was convinced that it isn't something I NEED to consume, and since I can find
products WITHOUT it, I wanted to err on the side of caution-
I have lost areas of fat that I never have before.
That would be my helpful hint to pass along.
It's in a LOT of products- even ketchup and breads- but you can find them without. It's worth a few cents more to avoid it.0 -
I have this problem too! I'm at least doubling the sugar I should be eating every day and that's only from fruit veggies and greek yoghurt most of the time Some sugar free options I've found:
nuts, peanut butter, cheese, sugar free jello, rice cake, eggs, avocado
Also substitute adding honey/sugar/syrup with adding cinnamon where you can?0 -
You diary doesn't seem to be open....
Snacks......hard boiled eggs, skim mozzarella cheese sticks, cucumber & bell pepper slices, 6-8 walnut halves, plain/non fat greek yogurt (make sure it's PLAIN).
For meals, try to stick with lean proteins (chicken breast, salmon, tuna, tilapia, ground turkey). Add veggies - steamed broccoli, cauliflower, squash, brussel sprouts, etc. And a green salad.....mixed salad greens or romaine...tomato, sliced bell peppers, avocado, onion. Watch your salad dressing for added sugars. I like to just put some olive oil and vinegar on mine, and a sprinkle or Mrs Dash Original Salt Free. Eggs are good, too. You could whip up a healthy omelet with lots of veggies in it a little cheese. I like to make mini-quiches to snack on, too. I make them in muffin cups so they're already portion sized. I use Egg Beaters, mushroom, fresh spinach, and sometimes canned, drained tuna.
I try to keep my sugar low, under 25 grams per day at 18 grams optimum. Hope these suggestions help you! :flowerforyou:0 -

I really like eating unsalted nuts. Right now, I'm on a peanut kick! Yum...lol.0

I do eat unroasted unsalted almonds but then have to watch I don't go over on fats. :grumble:0

Be careful with peanut butter. Many are loaded with sugar and/or high fructose corn syrup.0
