  • HRM are not accurate for every day life activities, only for exercise

You need a bodymedia Fit or the sort for that

thought about it but I think mine times out, not sure though, I guess I could try. I think they have them out there on the market that do track everything and are suppose to be worn all the time.

Yes!! I burn about 400-450 calories during an 8 hour sleep(according to my Polar FT4). The batteries are only $6 for an 8 pack, so I keep mine on all the time and try to log certain activities just to give me an idea of the calorie expenditure. I figure when I get down to my maintenance weight it will help me determine a more exact number of calories to eat. Hopefully by then I'll be more in tune with my body's needs, but for now the HRM is an informative and fun hobby.

You need a Bodymedia Fit or Bodypod if you want to measure your calories burned for an entire day.... I use the Bodymedia Fit to get accurate figures.....HRM's does not provide accurate information when worn the whole time (works best when you actually exercise)

For me my daily calorie burn is between 2500 and 3400 calories a day (the low one with very little activity - and high on a day that a train)
  • Yes! I love my Body Media band. Haven't gone a day without it since I got it!

I hope you realize this is not accurate at all. HRM's that figure out calories burn, use an equation that needs an elevated heart rate to work.. IE exercise. So if your heart rate is not elevated, then it's crap for estimating calories.

    To OP:
I personally wouldn't.. they are other ways of figuring it out. Bodybugg or Body Media FIt is one way to do that.
