Grrrrr.....I weigh in daily and can be very depressing. I am trying to get back on track. I have been watching what I eat and worked out 2x this week and of course hoping for a few pound weight loss, not what I got I am up 2lbs. I am going to try and weigh in only on Saturday, hopefully that will show a true loss for the week. I know I had too much sodium yesterday so hopefully that is the culprit for the gain.

Weighing daily can help you understand what's happening with your weight. If you weigh in weekly, it makes it harder to understand how your body is reacting to the demands that you're placing on it.

When I was losing weight, I used one key question to help me decide about things I should/not do - "Will this help me achieve my weight loss and fitness goals?"

I chart my weight every day ( http://cbeinfo.net/weight.htm ) and, if you look at my weight graph, you'll see that there were times when I didn't lose weight and there were times when I was actually gaining weight (and that's on a diet of 800 to 1000 net cals per day!).

That didn't faze me because my chart made it clear that I would continue to lose weight.

Instead of getting "depressed" about your weight loss and going into denial about it, how turning and facing the enemy head on? Try this — keep weighing every day, plot your weight, and take the steps that you need to start losing again.

I became very dependent with my scale. I was weighing in every morning and then I was weighing in every time after I used the bathroom, so I was weighing in all throughout the day. "Hi, my name is Kat and I'm addicted to my scale." After realizing I had a problem I would have my husband, (or whoever you can get), to hide my scale and not give it back until my weigh in time. The reason, other than the obvious, is that I was so addicted to what number I saw that I was more into a number then how I felt after my workouts and getting healthy. This is was a few months ago, now that he is deployed I have to put it away and have will power not to step on it every morning. I have my moments of getting on it before my weigh in time, (once a month), but it's better then where I was. When I get to my goal then I will weigh myself every few days to make sure I'm maintaining.
