What is the best time to workout I usually do in the afternoons soo do you get better results in the morning than in the evening/afternoon?

  • I don't think it really matters in terms of calorie burning. I would say that the best time to exercise is whatever time of day you feel most motivated to do it.

It really depends on what works for you. I get my best workout in the evenings after dinner. I just dont feel like I am doing as much when I try to go in the mornings. On my days off I usually go after lunch but again its whatever fits into your schedule.

You get the best results when you are alert and committed. For some people that's 5am, other's it's 9pm. The difference in benefit to the body has been measured as barely minimal, so whatever fits your schedule best and you are most likely to stick to is the correct answer for YOU!
Just listen to your body - for example, I prefer morning workouts because they're less likely to get hijacked by things popping up throughout the day. But, if I do workout in the evening, I notice that my appetite decreases and I eat less for dinner.
Just be consistent, because that's the REAL benefit!

It's all what works for you. I like AM workouts because you can get it done for the day, but I DO NOT feel refreshed and full of energy for the day like others say.

If I work out in the morning, by 9am I am struggling to stay awake, I am so exhausted. Uusually when I try AM workouts, I have to take one of those 5 hours energy drinks, but they make my stomach hurt and I worry that they're bad for you, so I'd rather not take them.

i know people that swear by early morning workouts, but i am not a morning person. I feel like they are beneficial if you are prone to dreading/avoiding workouts after the stress of the day, but if you're like me and dont want to get sweaty before breakfast time id say pm workouts are just as good

The best time to workout is when you can fit in in you schedule and stick to that schedule. It's different for everyone. I am a morning person. I like to get it over as soon as I am done with breakfast. Mu husband prefers an early evening.

The best time is whenever you have time to consistently get it done.
  • I like AM work out because it keeps me energized for the rest of the day. You will still get the same results.

I agree, I normally do mine about midday. I have already had breakfast and gotten some stuff done (housework, homework). If I wait til afternoon I normally don't put as much effort towards it.

I've wondered the same thing and I am sure there will be a variety of answers to that question. I personally have tried both and tend to find I can't workout with much intensity in the morning because, #1 - I'm not a morning person, and #2 - it takes me too long to cool down. Even after a cool shower I still melt my makeup off before I get to work, so I joined a gym and I workout in the evening with a personal trainer 3x week. The only thing I have to remember working out in the evening is to increase my calorie intake throughout the day during the days I am going to workout so I don't put myself in a negative calorie deficit.

I purchased a heartrate monitor which tells me my calorie burn, so I have an idea on what I burn during my workouts and I just increase my calorie intake a rough percentage of my projected burn.

We all have different schedules. Some are morning people and others are not, so basically you have to do what works best for you.
