So who is going shopping the morning of black friday? I am very tempted because there are great deals. I went 8 or so years ago and it was horrible. People were so rude and nasty. I got there 5 minutes after walmart opened and it looked like the place hard already been pillaged. Has it gotten better?

in my mind it is a little better but only becasue the WM where i live does not close and the sale starts at 10 pm but in all honesty those days seem to bring out the worst in people and i avoid it at all costs

ME!! It is a tradition that was started when I was very young and we have always done it. Go out shopping and to breakfast or lunch. I love Black Friday! Even if there is nothing in particular we are looking for we go just to see if we find anything we might want for someone.

    I always go.
I need a new flat screen for my bedroom :)

I went last year and ended up with like 3 tvs. (I always take orders from the rest of the family on Thanksgiving)

I'm sure Walmart would have great deals, but yeah even their employees are rude. I did Kohls last year, I would definitely go again. But I prefer shopping online, you do get some of the same great deals and no shipping fees.

I went about 11 years ago and had a horrible experience due to some selfish, rude people, so never again

I shop Black Friday. I'm in a relatively small town, so it's probably not near as bad for me than in larger areas. Walmart has gotten worse (in my opinion) since they started things at midnight instead of 3 or 4am.

So far, I'm planning on Walmart for a few small items (crock pot, jammies for the kids, and movies), and JC Penny for clothes, shoes and a new purse for myself. I'm excited to see what Target will post!

If you're on the lookout for ads, I always go to bfads.net. They post scans of all stores, have a user community with forums, and you can make your shopping list in your profile.

    Good Luck with your shopping!

    Nope- its not any better.

I went a couple of years and that was PLENTY. I would rather pay 50% more than deal with that EVER again! Ok..... 100% more would be acceptable.....

Women on a mission are NUTS- There was a stampede that overtook a greeter at the local Menards last year.......... I mean really???

I'm from the UK but was in Florida for Thanksgiving last year, and the best part of the holiday ("vacation") was black friday! We got loads of great bargains. Our equivilant is the boxing day sales but it in no way compares to the savings you can get on black friday =)

My sister and I always go out. As far as it getting better, it depends on where you go. Some stores are very organized and well-staffed, while others are totally unprepared, as if they have never had a Black Friday sale.

    BAD: Wal-Mart, K-Mart

GOOD: Kohl's, Target, Toys 'R Us

I worked in the girls/teens section of JCPenny's on black friday once. Since then I stay in my home on black friday. I am still scared of falling into that pile of clothes in the dressing room that was (LITERALLY) 6 feet high.

I already have a decent start on my Christmas shopping.. in fact, just placed an online order at Toys R Us. I will more than likely either do Cyber Monday, or take a day off at the beginning of December and finish my shopping. I used to do Black Friday every year, but I can't deal with the crowds anymore.

I've never gone. I don't do well in crazy crowds. A lot of stores are opening at midnight on Thanksgiving night. I wouldn't mind doing that though. I'm a night owl anyway so I'd be up. But I doubt I'll go. It would be fun to do it once and get some awesome sales. What are some of the best deals you've gotten on Black Friday?

I am going to be asleep in my snuggly bed under my snuggly comforter with my snuggly husband. Then all of us are going to have a nice breakfast together and we'll make some yummy Christmas cookies and decorate our Christmas tree and play in the snow!!!

I don't go there. Back in the day of the Cabbage Patch doll rage, a woman in our town was shoved through a plate glass window in the crowd's rampage to get to the bargains. I prefer to keep my body intact

You should keep an eye on Joanne's Fabrics. I got my sister-in-law some kind of Cricut machine last year for a ridiculously low price, and I noticed they had a great sale on the cartridges this year.

My best friend and I go every year...we get into line about 5 hours before the store of our choosing opens and drink cocoa and watch movies on a laptop. :) We map out the store and decide who will grab what. I love the rush of getting things that I want. so fun! (but yes, sometimes people are rude)

After working several BF in my life, I now shop exclusively online either on Thanksgiving night or Friday. Any deals that last all day I'll go out for after dinner.

I think it gets worse and worse...and I feel bad for the employees who are now told they have to leave their homes after Thanksgiving dinner and be at work for 10pm since their store is going to reopen at midnight. Gah!

I always go! My mom and I go together every year. And the last few, my boyfriend has joined us. I actually knew he was the One based on how awesome of a Black Friday shopper he was.

Our big tradition is to start at JCPenney so that we can get a free mini slow globe. We have every one since 1999, and we use them as Christmas decorations every year.

This year, I'm determined to be more organized about it and to actually be done or nearly done with my shopping after Black Friday.

I go only because I live in a small town and we only have 3 stores that have Black Friday sales. I usually just check out what movies they have on special, Christmas lights, and bedding. I prefer to shop online anyways.

The nearest Walmart, Target, and any other big box stores are about 50-60 miles away from me. And I don't want to get up at the butt crack of the morning to drive that many miles and deal with cranky people.

I'd be willing to pay out the amount I'd save just so I could be home in bed at 4am instead of out in line in the dark and cold.
I've never done it and after people being killed by mobs trying to get into Walmart, I never will. For me it's not worth it and the
internet sales I've found are very very good.

    :noway: Holy crap!

That's why I listed K-Mart as one of the worst places to shop on Black Friday. We went there once. The line to get in wrapped around the store. There were also a bunch of people milling about in the parking lot near the store's entrance. When they opened the door (yes, just ONE door), all those people rushed the doors, pushing & shoving the people who had been waiting in line.

My sister and I had been talking with this cute little gal who appeared to be around 8 months pregnant while we were standing in line. When the crowd surged, she started to go down, and we had to grab her under her arms and carry her to keep her from getting trampled! It was horrible. Then, the store didn't even have a lot of the items from the Black Friday ad, so there was a huge angry mob at the customer service desk. We just got the hell out of there without buying anything. Never again!!
