Friend requests

I just kind of assume that there is something wrong with anyone who wants to be my friend in the first place.0

WELL SAID.0

I got tired of being collected so I just stopped accepting FRs altogether.0

Agreed. I'm nice and accept all until I get the creepy messages or they don't interact.. I don't like having to go delete.. I need to apply this...
Oh and I dislike negativity.. I accept all posivity0 -
It takes no effort to tell someone why you would like to friend them. it's polite. personally, i'll check out their flist to see if we have anyone in common. if not? decline. locked down account? decline.
and when i send a FR - when i'm not rambling insanely about water fowl as i'm wont to do - i make sure to add a warning. i like to let them know that i'm sarcastic and i curse and i'm a pagan. i get declined sometimes, but i know that my flist is rockin.
don't be impertinent.
im·per·ti·nent
[im-pur-tn-uhnt] adjective
1.
intrusive or presumptuous, as persons or their actions; insolently rude; uncivil: a brash, impertinent youth.0 -
Agreed, with one caveat. If you have an exchange with me in a thread, and you TELL me you are going to send me a FR, and you send it right then? Then, I'm just being pissy to expect a message in addition to that. Otherwise, ditto.0

Oh, damn, and my finger was hovering over the send a FR to button.0 -
I agree totally!!0

ok I know this will come across as witchy, tho I have another word in mind, but many people feel that when you send a request you should add a message.. I'm one them! Not only is it polite but I don't like feeling like I'm being added as a trophy on a collectors list when I post a progress picture.. I've busted my a s s to get where I am! I'm a supportive friend and I also like my list small! I feel I can be a more supportive friend that way! I also like to know my friends! So when your sending a request to someone, please take a moment to add a message! A hello, I saw you on so and so's list, I liked your comment of..anything works... It's being polite!
Thank you for letting me rant!0 -
Meh - I don't really care if there's a message. If someone gets creepy I'll delete them.
Same thing on FB - deleting is easy.
This ^^

In all fairness though....VERY FEW of us REALLY know eachother (like, met in person), so do we need to be THAT picky? As long as somebody is offering to help support you, why fight it?
Because not everybody has send FR's with the intention of being nice and being supportive. There have been creeps and oddballs lurking around in the past.0 -

That is exactly why a message is important - how on earth do you know they are offering to support you if they do do not take the actual time to send you a message???
My take on it is that if they can not be fussed to send me a message they will most probably also not be fussed to actually be a supportive friend either.......
Personally - no message it is automatically the "decline" button - I do not even stress about it.
i totally agree, if you cant take the time for a short message, why would i think your going to be supportive.
And i have met a few friends in real life that are awesome and ik several more on my list that i would love to meet.... because i have had the opportunity to get to know them on here...my friends here are my biggest supporter, but also the first to keep me honest!! im very thankful to all my friends, they arfe the best!!0 -
It's a catch 22. I don't accept FR's from people without a message, but if they include a message and it comes across as creepy or I do a "background check" and people tell me not to accept, I'm all about the decline button.
You really can't win with me :noway:
I've already won you :-P0 -
Dont complain about it..Just hit the decline button. They will get the message.0

I like to tell women that they have a perty mouth... if they accept I know we'll get along. Cuz I'm a creeper
LOLOL. That made my day.
In all seriousness, I accept people with or without a message.
If they end up creeper-like, delete works. Like many others here have said.
If you DO send a message, I'll like you (:0 -
I've sent FR without messages plenty of times. If the person doesn't accept the request then it's their loss. I support my mfp family everyday and genuinely feel happy for my mfp brother or sister when they reach a goal . Personally I prefer not to see T&A pics or Vulgarity on my wall , but when it does happen I just hit the delete button. I go my way and they go theirs . No need to be dramatic about adding or deleting friends. If someone doesn't accept my friend request just because I didn't send an essay along with it that's Kool. It's probably better that way. I'm just a chill type of gal who is more than happy to cheer and encourage my mfp family (they are wonderful and supportive right back).0
