I thought that Whey Protein is just for bulking up. but is it good for those losing weight as well?

I used to use the Biggest Loser Brand of Protein, I think it was blueberry, but I just stopped losing weight, this was in 08/09 ish and when i plateaued i just stopped working out.

so why do you use Whey Protein?

Convenient way to get protein. No more, no less.

It won't bulk you up any more than chicken breast or cottage cheese will.

Protein is not going to bulk you up. Perhaps read up on protein here:

  • Whey protein is a useful tool to hit your protein goals. If you are under your calories it will not stall weight loss. Drinking whey also does not mean muscle gain if you aren't putting in some serious work

I use it because I do lift, but mainly because I can't get 120g of protein per day with out it
  • I use both whey and casein proteins. I'm a vegetarian so I need the protein, and I'm almost at my weight goal so I'm trying to tone up and build muscle as well. They don't make you stop losing weight and if used correctly they can be very helpful. Also, I plateaued for about a month and I just kept going. If anything you'll tone up from working out. It's not always about the scale(:

Protein is good for muscle support/development, which is good regardless of your fitness/weight goals. Whey is a good/easy way to get more of it in your diet.

    On side note...
Lifting HEAVY and calorie SURPLUS is how to gain mass.

I use Protein to help repair my muscles after a workout. I tend to find that when I have it, my muscles dont feel as sore the next day.

In my protein there are about 199 Cals per serving though so if you are still trying to loose weight, you will need to take this into you calorie count.

I use Synthesis Pro7ein (7 is for the varying types of protein included) as a base for my morning smoothies. It's easy to take and easy on my stomach rather than a big breakfast would be.
