Oatmeal measurement

I just started a new nutrition plan and it recommends oatmeal for breakfast. I picked up a carton of oatmeal at the store - the quick cooking oatmeal (just like the quaker oats container but the store brand instead - not the prepackaged, flavored kind). I don't know how to measure it - before or after cooking. I measured out 1/2 a cup dry and then once i cooked it, it was easily over a cup. Does anyone know which measurement I should use?
Thanks for the help!

I've noticed that oatmeal seems to double once you cook it. I measure 1/3 dry and it comes to 2/3 cup cooked. That's what I eat almost every morning. On the Quaker oats the nutritional value is based on the dry measurement, so that's what I would use for your diary.0

The nutrition facts on the container are for the dry oatmeal.0

Thanks so much to all of you! I had a feeling it was dry, but seeing it expand so big just made me worry!0

That's what I love about oatmeal. You get to eat a lot for a little bit of calories. Then I add a sliced apple and sometimes nuts, so it becomes a really big bowl of oatmeal! It just barely fits into the bowl. I eat it nearly every morning.0
