Bump??

What does it mean when people type in "bump" after a thread?

Its just to bring the thread to recent posts page, and to have it in My topics, so its easy to find later on :flowerforyou:

Some threads, it seems especially in the early morning, you may see this every 30 seconds to every couple minutes. I think people do a quick scan to see what's new and then enter a brief comment as a reminder to come back and look again when they have more time.

You could accomplish the same thing with any word at all, simply the act of posting the word will move the thread to the top of the 'recently viewed' list.

I had to ask some time ago mysefl, but I would like to know who is came about, bump, does it stand for something in particular? I figured it for some text slang, or internet blogging term. (both ot which I have little time for)
