Hi Everyone,
So I have a bit of a problem... after week 2 of C25K, my foot has been killing me. I can barely walk which means there is no chance of working out or running more. I have a Dr. appointment on December 14th to get it checked out, but that is a long time without cardio. I have a history of foot issues so I am nervous that I may have really hurt it. I don't have a gym membership which means no access to bikes or rowing machines or anything, so I am not sure what I can do... Can you reccommend any exercise dvds that may not be feet intensive? Any other ideas would be super helpful. Thanks guys!

If you're having acute pain, waiting over a month to get it looked at is no good. Why can't your doctor see you sooner? Why can't you go to another doctor?

In the meantime, RICE. Rest, Ice Compression, Elevation.

While you're icing your foot, call your doctor's office and tell them you need to be seen ASAP.

Arm strengthening and core workouts. Or...it may be time to find a cheap gym for access to pools and bikes!

In the Jillian Michael's 30 day shred, she recommends doing shadow boxing, or even just punches, which are very low impact on your legs. I'm sure if you google workouts like that you'll find a few. Punches will still raise your heart rate, and just do a squat or a half squat to keep your legs engaged while doing them.

You might just have to do floor exercises and let your foot rest for a while, especially if this isn't the first time you've hurt it. Does it hurt to do simple ankle movements and stretches with your foot?
  • How about rowing? I bought this...

It's a good cardio workout and you can do it sitting on the floor so it won't hurt your foot

Thanks for the ideas everyone! I just called my doctor and they said there are no other times they can squeeze me in but if I call every day and there is a cancellation, they can get me in that way. Not the best, but better than nothing. Thanks again!

How's your insurance? If it's pretty good, then I recommend you take yourself to an urgent care center and get that foot looked at. If it is something relatively bad, a month of waiting to get it looked at could cause problems down the road.

If my doctor told me there was no way they could see me within a month, I'd have a new doctor. That's completely unacceptable.

Edited to add: Please don't go to the ER. It doesn't sound like an emergent problem, and there are enough people in the ER's trying to gt their sore throats and such checked. What you want is an urgent care clinic. Ask Google. Google knows where they are.

I agree with jskaggs... Waiting a month to be seen is insane! Sounds like it's time for a different doctor! If he's too busy for you, take your business and your health elsewhere!
